He seems like a different fighter that doesn't fold like before but only time will tell. He's fallen apart a bunch of times. It wasn't too long ago that Felder iirc put himself in his guard an absolutely thrashed him, Lamas and Pettis tapped him when he kinda fell apart and Max finished him during that 2-4 run before his current run. He's the type of guy that smart betters have a serious issue putting money on cause you just don't know and he's the type of guy I think any intelligent mma fan would be extremely hesitant to confidently say he WILL be the future of the division. That's just silly to me, to say with confidence at this point.
He really seems to be turning it around and the future is super bright but he's only really had the 2 big wins during this run, the others he was a favorite and in most cases a huge favorite. He also hasn't faced a big puncher besides maybe Ferguson if you consider him a big puncher, I mean Guida, Lentz, Miller, Giagos, Teymur, Gordon and Lee? I just feel like the Ferguson win was huge but stylistically good for him, the Lee win was great and really to me I think showed he's tougher now but it's a run that seems like it worked out well for him matchmaking wise. I could see Gaethje, Poirier, RDA, Diego Ferreira and even guys like Chandler, Dober and Makhachev giving him issues not to mention Paul Felder. I feel like things have fallen into place nicely for Charles matchmaking wise. I think he absolutely could be a champ but to say he WILL be the future of the division? Sorry but it just sounds like cheerleading.
