Divisions should be sorted not just by weight, but also by height and reach as well

It would only make sense.

There are different weight divisions because of the disadvantage a fighter has if he were to fight somebody that weighed more. The bigger the weight difference, the more advantage the heavier fighter has (e.g. Conor/Diaz).

That being said, height and reach are two areas that give a fighter an advantage of another as well, especially reach. Just imagine trying to fight somebody that has a large stick poking at you from a distance.

Fighters such as Anderson Silva, Werdum, have taken advantage of these loopholes in the system to build a legacy for themselves, sadly, at the expense of others that were not endowed with such physical attributes.

And of course OP doesn't defend his shitty idea even once in the thread.

Well, it seems the consensus is there shouldn't be a weight division either then.

Why is a weight advantage not allowed, but a reach or height advantage allowed, all physical attributes of a fighter?

Either level the playing field or throw out the weight classes and make it real man2man open division fighting.

Come on man, what's next ? Weight is a fair divider. Especially if IV rehydration is not allowed. And taken a step further to same day weigh ins.

Anything else is not going to work. So many different body types, shapes, and sizes just inside of each weight division. You'd have to break each division into like 6 sub divisions.

And you can't say that a MW just for example, that has the same reach as a HW. Should have to fight a guy that outweighs him by 80 lbs on the scale. So it's just not workable.

It's not perfect but how can it be improved ? Imo, just make the ridiculous weight cutting completely against the rules. That will be the fairest you can probably make it.

I don't think you understand, weight height and reach would all have to be close.

Obviously it's not a realistic idea but it's interesting to think about.

Two words: weight distribution. You can be skinny as fuck 6'1 guy at 145, but that's not going to help you much since that basically guarantees that you're carrying only a small amount of muscle. You're going to get completely manhandled in the clinch and on the ground.

As a 6"1' who could make feather i struggle with power punches not wrestlers or in the clinch.

Its a really tricky at closeish boxing distance if you don't have good elbows.
