What’s the endgame with Geno?

The Seahawks shipped him off because you’re not going to go anywhere with him. So you stay a middling team that becomes more palatable to watch and then what? Draft mid round while he’s there and hope you absolutely luck out on a QB?

Seahawks tried to keep him, didnt want to make the $ work.

But ya. Win what you can and hope you land a legit franchise QB. Like every other team tries to do.

Lamar, Nix, Hurts, Turdy, Love, Rustled etc. Got to commit to swinging for them until one lands.

They have more time to tear the team down and start over. DK and Geno are just two big contracts looming.

Well if you think he’s worth keeping around then you pay him. Pretty clear they didn’t see success on the horizon with that team and QB. Going rebuild makes sense now.

He’s a gamer for sure, I’ve just lived in that QB purgatory for so long that I would rather tear it all down before going there again.

Its already torn down though (for the Raiders). Geno for the second of their 2 third round picks, and the later of their 2 third round picks (that they got from the Jets for Adams), imo, is better than Rodgers for a year or the likely 3 first rounders it would take to trade up for not elite QB prospects in Ward and Sanders.

Sign him to a 2-3 year deal and keep looking for the kid to take over. If you want to trade the farm to move up this isnt a great class to do it. I say that as a big fan of Ward.

Just roll out AOC if you don’t like the prospects this year. Don’t even pretend like you aren’t tanking. The chances of franchise QB’s fall off a cliff if you’re picking outside the top five, I can’t remember what the statistic is but it’s not great.

Games will be more interesting next year. Annoying but if they stay out of getting a top prospect for a while it’ll take it.

The Raiders just made Maxx Crosby the highest paid non QB in the league. That doesn't sound like a team that actively wants to lose.
I don’t know what point you’re trying to make. Of course they got better but it’s a stop gap that doesn’t get them closer to a real solution.

If you really want a solution, tanking is the best bet.

"tanking is the best bet" isn't what you said

you said "don't even pretend like you aren't tanking" like they're already actively trying to tank

they're literally not, they're making moves to win games lol

I think youre misreading what hes saying. I think hes saying if you dont have an obvious franchise QB just tank outright, not pretend otherwise (as most teams say they arent tanking).

You can do a lot better than Geno. But you can do a hell of a lot worse also. Theyre essentially working on doing what everyone begged them to do for Carr and put a staff/team around a decent QB.

But Seattle did want to keep him. Theyre just coming due on contract problems.

Yeah I misread what he said.

Still do not agree that a full on tank is a good idea with the tools they already have for the gamble of a rookie QB.

When is the supposed "good year" for QB's? Imagine tanking and it's another mediocre QB year. I keep seeing couch GM's talk about "tank for Arch" and shit like that without even seeing the guy play a full season lol imagine he is good and they tank for him and he stays at Texas another year. Tanking ain't it.

The Raiders were a Geno Smith away, apparently.

No it isnt. The cap just went up by a large amount and you are comparing years old contracts to the current market. That is silly.

I guess he’s about equal w purdy

Um, I get that you're a Donkey fan, but why are you in a tizzy, Dizzy? The Raiders have a QB that can get a wild-card spot if things fall right. That's a fuckton better than what we've had to deal with lately.

The thing is you dont have to stop at Geno man. They gave up one of their 2 third round picks. Didnt exactly gamble away the farm here.

That was more to the guy who made it sound like they just need a QB because they signed Maxx.

It’s a good short term move for them for sure. Like i said, see where they are a few years from now and if it paid off at all to get them out of prime drafting position.
