I finally got around to watching Fight Nigith 29.
Anybody else watch Thiago Silva and Matt Hamill and wonder WTF is up with both of these guys? I am a fan of both of them, and I had high hopes for both of them. I watched Matt since TUF. I recently became a big fan of Thiago Silva in his last fight. I acknowledge that they're both a bit limited in their own ways but I expected more out of them.
In his last fight, Thiago looked like a fucking destroyer. He is admittedly slow and lacks cardio but he is a hard hitter with a great chin and killer instinct. In this fight, he showed up fat, with pathetic cardio, and no follow-through on his attacks.
In the past, Matt has had unstoppable takedowns with good cardio. In this fight, he was too undertrained to even keep his hands up. His takedowns were half-assed pathetic attemps that I could probably stop myself, even with just high school wrestling experience. It was completely pathetic. Both of these guys seem like they don't give a shit anymore, and it's difficult to watch as a fan. Maybe my hopes were too high, but I wanted to see a Thiago Silva title fight within a year or two. I was hoping Hamill could string together a few more wins. As it stands, both of these guys might be at the end of it.
