Greetings.

Now we all know the deal when it comes to stength training. Lift heavy with compound movements. Bench Press, Squats, Deadlifts, Bent Over Rows, Overhead Press , the FAQ section states this.

But is Dips/Weighted Dips a suitable replacement for the Benchpress ?

For some reason I find them kinder to my shoulders. I can do dips with 40kg (88 lbs) in a backpack for 10 reps which is good.

Thoughts ?

i think dips are definitely better but its jsut a different ratio of how much of the triceps, chest and shoulders are being used. downward stuff targets your triceps more, foreward like bench targets your chest more with a regular grip width, and overhead press stuff targets your shouders a bit more but they all work those three muscles so i would do all three on your pushing days and do pull ups/chin ups, rows, and shrugs on your pulling days.

with the pulling muscles is mostly the same but with biceps, lats, and traps, chins work more biceps, rows get a lot of back, and shrugs get your traps

you can also vary the lifts to change what they use more such as narrowing your grip on bench if you want to get more tricep work or doing wide grip pull ups instead of chin ups if you want more back work

Strange, I find dips way harder on my shoulders. But that's probably because I'm not used to them.
But someone in another thread a short while ago was saying you don't really need BP as long as you have dips and OHP. That's unless you want to compete in powerlifting obviously.

i noticed that heavy benching was making my right shoulder just feel..off...i didnt like what was goin on so i started doing heavy dips first...and then i still do bench just not heavy

In my opinion, unless you compete in that event, there is no real critical reason why you can't substitute benching with weighted dips.

In fact, i prefer them being a kickboxer and all. I guess i just like moving my body through space, i even do weighted pullups.

Deadlifts, squats as well as their variations are non-negotiable though, sorry, nothing can replace those two. :D

I believe dips sway more towards triceps and bench sways more towards chest.

Perhaps you have a form issue, causing the bench to be hard on your shoulders.

If your upper arms are at a 90 degree angle to your torso, you'll look like the letter "T". This is incorrect.

Bring your elbows in closer to your sides. This will cause you to use more triceps and less chest. It might also reduce pain in your shoulders.

Look at the logs of any of the strongest guys on this board. You won't find one that doesn't bench.

I think dips are great for working my kickboxing muscles.

Both are cool, I think bench is going to give you more bang for your buck in terms of gaining upper body strength.

When you start to use weight on your dips you will stay more upright and you wont really use your chest that much so while its a good exercise I still think you need to do some kind of pressing too.

I find the same thing

A lot of squats infront of the mirror and some ocassional flexing also helps me check out my kickboxing muscles.

Then I'll do some shadow boxing in between sets and all the girls will be like, all flocking around me while all the guys want to be me.

Then jaeger bombs in the club while wearing Affliction shirts. Cause that's how the kickboxers roll.

Sometimes, to really show off my kickboxing muscles, I wear wrist wraps in public. The ladies always ask me if I'm a kickboxer, and I say yeah and I take them home and fuck them.

I dont think Power Cleans work those kickboxing muscles so keep your shitty advice to yourself noob.

the wriststraps?

Nope, wrist wraps. As in what I use when I spar at kickboxing. Wrist-straps are for fat powerlifters.
