Danis grappling is brutally overrated. He's a black belt, and a good black belt, but it ends there. He sells himself as one of the best grapplers on the planet, a champion. He was legitimately a massive BJJ prospect when he was a brown belt.
His competitive record at black belt is 18-16 against other black belts.

Danis may be nothing spectacular in the grappling world in terms of achievements and titles and all that, but he held his own against some of the best in the world. That right there is something a lot of pro mma fighters ( even in the ufc) can’t say they can do or have done. That gives him an edge over most the new generation who just starts training mma from the jump. Also, Danis has trained with high level guys more than most the new age guys that aren’t at camps that is flooding with real high level talent.

Any edge in this sport is a big advantage.

Why did they have Tony/Danis on this card and not fighting each other in an mma fight? Like that was one of the GFL fights that kind of had some interest in that Danis hasnt really proven anything in mma and Tony is washed but still good enough to beat lower end guys. So it would be an interesting fight.

instead you have a fake fight with Danis and some guy off the couch and Tony boxing a guy named Salt Papi. I mean I know this is freakshow fighting shit but that was pretty pointless.
