Magnolia is probably his best film but I don't think it really matters that he's not critically acclaimed. He's one of the last great pop movie actors who puts everything into it. Now you just get nonstop whining about politics and talking down to their audience all while delivering subpar performances. Is Cruise a piece of shit? Most likely. But he's a great entertainer and he goes out of his way to show appreciation of his fans.
