Did you guys realize that Wonderboy-McDonald was the last UFC event under Zuffa?

It occurred to me several times last night. There's not another event for almost three weeks. A perfect window of time to finalize the sale beforehand.

Unlike many others, I'm optimistic about the UFC's potential under new ownership. Even before there were rumblings about a sale, I truly felt that Zuffa was holding the UFC back.

I would make the comparison to SEG, the previous owners. Both SEG and Zuffa were important for the UFC's development. They both did a lot of good things for the UFC. But they both hit a brick wall and could no longer grow the UFC. And by grow, I don't mean quantitatively in terms of revenue.

Zuffa for all their shills, money, and braggadocio, were simply incapable of professionalizing the sport. In a real professional sport, athletes don't need to work a day job and/or beg on live TV for bonuses. They don't need to rely on PPV as their main revenue stream. A real professional sport has a union.

Though I'm optimistic, I have no way of knowing if the status quo will change. But I do know if the UFC stays with the devil it knows, it will remain a ghetto-ass, douche-bro niche pseudo-sport.

A 4 billion dollar sale will take a while to complete.

1 there are many hands throwing money into this sale.

2 its 4 billion dollars. The paperwork alone for this will take at least 2 months to complete.

3 judge it against how long it takes for a home loan to close. That can be upwards of 2 months before its done.

This will not be quick and swift.

Pretty sure they won't finalize anything until after 200. That's a huge payday Dana and the Fertittas won't want to miss out on.
