I could sworn romero couldnt get him down i watched i think at round 3 or so and robert was stuffing his shots completely

he had 4 takedowns. Once in the first, 2 times in the 2nd and once in the 4th.

but did he hold him down?

Yeah, he did in one of the early rounds for a minute or so, but he couldn't do much. Romero isn't exactly known for his top game or his BJJ.

He held that position for a bit. If Romero had a top game, then that could have been big trouble for Whittaker. Fortunately, Romero is just a wrestler once it hits the mat.

I still don't get how Romero lost that fight... crazy. He was like 3-4 low kicks away from victory.

Close fight that saw Romero work hard for takedowns in what was a fine round strategy fight plan. Whittaker stuffed a lot of takedowns though and was able to ultimately outhustle Romero overall.

Imo Romero had a far more exciting style but Whittaker is so technically sound, durable and conditioned that he pulled through for the championship.

Will be a good rematch. Romero could still beat him

He did rather well to control and damage Jacare from the top, that should be a testament to Whittaker's bottom defense.

I’m still fucking impressed with Rob. That performance was insane.

Rob's a beast. Hate to be that guy (no I don't) but I've been singing his praises since he was a WW. I can't believe people couldn't see this guy was special.

Thats not me being brash, honestly there are a lot of smart guys on here who can be fight analysts, and it seems like no one saw Bobby Knuckles coming. A lot of doubters and haters actually (some even went as far as saying Bisping would KO him).

Losing to Wonderboy shouldn't be a huge stain on a evolving fighters career. Especially when he hadn't even discovered his optimal weight class yet. Just look at all the respect Rumble gets on here, and he lost at WW, MW, and LHW.

Yoel only has a punchers chance against a healthy rob. If Whittaker has two legs under him he will win clearly again, as long as he avoids a big knee or overhand right.

I expect bobby to win by tko within the first two rounds.

Jacare was rocked and jacare is content to play from his guard.
