Watching the fight again, it appeared to me that Nate mentally broke Conor during the first couple of minutes of the 2nd round. He looked incredibly disheartened and frustrated that he couldn't land flush and the few shots that he did connect with, Nate took in stride. Adding to the realization that he was in a fight and in for a long night with a seasoned veteran like Nate, shook his resolve and determination, he knew the end was near. Conor gassing and getting cracked hard by that textbook 1-2, just physically confirmed what he mentally already knew. He was a beaten man.

I think we can all agree, he chose to get tapped out, than to get KTFO, which in Conor's eyes is more humiliating.

Mentally.

You could see Conor 'deflating' each time he hit Nate clean, and he wasn't even budging.

He expected Nate to crumble (even SAID so in the pre-fight conference). and when he didn't, it psyched him out.

i think it was that punch in the face that did it but whatever...im no shrink

Conor is really confident. I dont think he mentally deflated until his cardio failed and/or he got stuck.. Even if he saw DIaz not being rocked by his punches he still carried on the same way. He still believed it would happen...like an idiot..because of his ego.

Remeber when RDA barely flinched during staredown with conor? Fanboys be like "RDA flinched...he's done!"

When Nate punked conor, Fanboys were quick with "good reflexes"

Ok, it wasn't just me then. He looked shocked that Nate was not only taking his best shots, but actually had the nerve to fight him back.

Great point, psychologically this might have been the beginning of the end. He did flinch and looked like he was shook, I think he realized how weak he appeared and that set him off.

RDA wouldn't have crumbled under those shots either.

Nate had him beat when he choked him.

Wait, aren't you fan boys always talking about how Conor uses the shit talking to psych out his opponents? So, Mcgregor is immune to being mentally shook is that it? It only works against the guys he's fighting? Must be nice to have double standard excuses ready for him.

mentally

the punch at the staredown was already a sign

oh youre talking about the fight only. but he break a bit even before the fight

When his energy faded and the damage Nate inflicted on him increased, Conor chose the easy way out. He knew he was about to get knocked out cold. There's no denying that he flat out quit in the middle of the fight.

I think any striker's nightmare is fighting a Diaz Bro. They have cardio for 20 rounds, have top notch chins, and throw non stop stinging jabs and straights.

The Diaz's usually lose the first few minutes or the 1st round and then bring on the pain, all while talking shit and Stockton slapping you in the face. McGregor had nothing for Nate's ghetto tough attitude. You can't scare a diaz. If you're not a great wrestler you have 2 rounds to KO a Diaz or you're done.

Conor learned this early in the 2nd and crumbled.

What the fuck?

You know whoever Mcgregor is fighting next, will bring this loss up. Losing to a guy with no training camp, quitting, no ground game, etc. This recent loss and the way he lost, just gave massive ammo for the next guy, whether it be Aldo or Edgar.

What the fuck?

We maybe "haters", but we aren't the ones wearing rose tinted glasses. You can say whatever you want to defend Mcgregor, but we all saw a guy wilting mentally under the heat.
