also, if it was because of stupidity.... then that's a trait deeply rooted in his entire make up as a fighter.
That would be like saying Vargas could have beaten Trinidad if he didn't have all of the things that makes him a less fighter than Trinidad. Sure, but then we'd be talking about a different boxer, and not Vargas.

But stupidity or something else: Broner isn't that good. At least not good enough to contend meaningfully and consistently at that level. Hell, Maidana said that he gleaned tips from the Broner v GAVIN REES fight. Gavin Rees.... Maidana said that in watching Broner fight Gavin F'N Rees he saw that Broner was suspect to looping haymakers and body shots.
If Gavin Rees can provide some of the game plan for a better fighter to beat Broner.... then that's hilarious.

That's how I always feel when people say things like "motivated BJ Penn". If a guy is unmotivated and doesn't try, that's just as much a part of him as his positive talents and abilities.

Maidana showed Broner who the real bad boy of the division was at that time, and that's all that happened. That, or that was one of the diet pills Maidana now too lazy to take in retirement (jk). Eitherway, Maidana always unafraid to be dirty, nasty bully in the ring. Loved him, but wouldn't put much past him, he was a blatant fouler and seemed genuinely unafraid to lose a point in order to send a message to an opponent getting the better of him.

I replied before watching the end of the tape, since it seemed to be repeating the same segment, but at the end it answered my question. It was something like, "It looks like the end of a swab, does he press it against a cut or wipe it across his mouth?".
