Jones' manager said in the press conference that he expected the result back tonight (last night).

I think that's why people got excited to hear about it so quickly.

The manager said the results will be known today as in 7/7/16. Basically it wouldn't take as long to test because they are testing the sample for the two specific PEDs, not a list of 200+ unallowed things.

Why couldn't they release the A test's results sooner since the sample was in June? They should just release the results post-fight so the cards don't get spoiled.

According to the article in the above link, USADA is giving Jones the option to release the result first. If Jones decides to release the result himself, it could take a while as Jones would want to thoroughly prepare his explanations prior to releasing the result.
