Not a Joanna fanboy at all if you know my post history, but do you think JJ might have lost some power after breaking her hand? Early on in her UFC stint she was viewed as one of the harder hitters at SW, brutalizing Esparza and Penne, knocking down Gadelha and marking up Letourneau badly, while recently she hasn't been able to do much damage to the likes of Karolina, Andrade and Rose. This could also be attributed to the latter having better chins and/or defense, but could JJ's power have declined as well?

"Joanna is past her prime" ;)

Honestly it's a testament to how slick a technical striker Joanna is that she managed to be on top for so long despite having a very suspect chin and minimal power.

It's probably the weight cut, she was a heavy hitter at 125.

maybe her recent opponents are just better and harder to hit.

I think Joanna's striking is kinda tense and telegraphed, Rose saw most of them coming miles away

She lost this fight because of herself. If she really wanted the win she would have mixed her game up. More leg kicks anf not throw the same combo everytime

<Huh2>

She was never one of the hardest hitters buddy. She's always been pillow-fisted. She took hundreds of punches to beat up the fighters you mentioned. The difference is she was facing fighters with sucky striking who she could tee off on.

yes because Joanna was always reknown as a knock out artist

I don't really think Joanna was never really known as having big power. Her finishes were more from accumulation of strikes than anything. She's an amazing striker but that chin is iffy and she's gotta be able to hit you a fuck load to really do the kind of damage she needs to put someone away.

This. She never had power just speed and volume and a few way overmatched opponents succumbed to a high volume sustained attack.

She never had KO power, she didn't even drop the girls she tKOed.

I don't think you can gauge Joanna's power from the Rose fight, because she didn't really land any good, flush shots that I saw. Rose had really good defensive movement.

Carla Esparza, on the other hand, was pretty much a stationary target, and Joanna was able to tee off on her.

For all the Hindsight Lads responding, there was definitely a time when Joanna being a hard hitter for SW was a popular opinion on this site. Maybe it was a wrong opinion but it was a prevalent one.

Joanna is a precision volume striker not power puncher. Esparza got lit the fuck up because she had no heh moomen and took over 150 punches. Penne got painted in RGB Red because she has a beak on her face.

Didn't lose power, just Cookie Muncher and Penne didn't belong in the cage with her

Ffs sherdog

She defended the belt.. What lile 10 times?

She got old and lost.

Never had power... Shes a fuckin twig. But she would have been game to throw down with Rose a few years ago. Fighters age.

She's always been a volume puncher, but she does seem to have lost a bit of power imo.

She never had any kind of power, her TKO over Penne and Esparza were both standing due to volume, other than that I don't recall her hurting anybody let alone finishing them

she was never a hard hitter, any drops she got were from technique/accuracy or combos.

andrade is like a female lineker, karolina is tough, and rose is tough.

She landed 8,000 unanswered punches on a defenseless Penne and couldn't get a knockdown.

<seedat>

One thing is for sure, she lost the Strawweight Championship and hopefully the ability to speak in an arrogant condescending fashion.
Never-mind the last part, she is still talking...
