There has been this pattern over the years when GSP fights a guy and the guy just never comes back the same.

We've seen it with Carlos Condit, Johny Hendricks, Alves and i'm sure many others.

These guys were once killers at the very top of their division but went downhill very quickly after losing to GSP.

Bisping had a good streak going on. He had 5 consecutive wins, had won the title and seemed to be doing better than ever. Looked solid even during his war against Silva, the guy stood back up.

Then this happened.

It was barely a year ago and it seemed like Bisping was hitting a new prime, but the GSP fight happened and now he seems like a frail old man. I'd be worried to see him fight against any top 10 MW at this point.

Georges "The Soul Catcher" St. Pierre

I just dont think that in the 3 wins he had, he has gotten incredibly lucky.

I'll never understand why Bisping would be cleared to fight Gastelum 3 weeks after GSP bashed his skull in with elbows, rocked him standing prior to that and choking him out cold.

That Gastelum KO was awesome.

Money talks.

If anything, Hendricks took GSP’s soul.

Georges hasn’t faced a legit contender since that hotly contested decision.

Gastelum is no joke, very underrated with great power and GSP is a legend.

Winning the Middleweight Championship from the defending Champ isn't facing someone "legit"?

China.

I doubt that fight gets sanctioned in most states.

Not sure that Gastelum fight would have been any different even without the GSP fight. Bisping looked sharp and that left hand from Kelvin was as flush as it gets.

How could you leave out the most obvious example, Koscheck?

The dude was wiping at the eye GSP jacked up in fights after that for seemingly no reason.

He retired....... He talked about it long before the Hendricks fight. Hendricks didn't take anything. ACL surgeries are what defeated GSP's career.

I don't think it's "taking a soul", I think it's just Bisping going back in there way too quickly against an up-and-coming top contender after being legitimately choked out in a fight following a 5 round training camp.

Redeculous.

Gastelum destroys Bisping again.

Ping is a journyman level fighter and basically retired now.

No sorry my friend, but I don't buy it

Bisping has always suffered from poor striking defense.

All credit due for his streak of success which resulted in him gaining and defending the 185 belt. I will always give due respect for that achievement... but I don't think the defeat you mentioned is anything to do with some hocus pocus soul-taking curse... just same old sloppy striking defense and poor chin that has always been Bisping's downfall

I have to say though I'm loving the praise directed at Bisping and recognition of his credibility as champ, even if it is purely used to enhance the legitimacy of GSP's win
