Lol, with who as his promoter? He has no name, no boxing credentials, no draw, no personality, no desire to work for anything or bring any value to table, scared to fight Jon Jones, but expects a major boxer to hand him a big paycheck because he "deserves" it. It makes sense why he wouldn't fight Jones, he is dumb as a rock. He had every chance in the world to make tons of money, enough is enough, good riddance cry baby. Gane wants to fight and Jones vs Gane is on! Let's Go!

It's amazing how easily Dana and the UFC manipulates you guys to turn on the fighters.

No desire to work for anything says the Sherdogger to a guy who made himself a UFC champion from abject poverty.

I know it was his childhood dream to box, but not only box but fight for the HW belt in boxing. Well I hope it comes true, but it's bittersweet for me. I would have loved to see him fight Jon Jones. Oh well, what can you do, he's not young. Ngannou probably just wants to make a huge pay day and retire.

It's understandable when you know he's looking for himself and his family.

Take care man, wish you the best.

I think his career and opportunities are worse off cause of it.

He'll probably get a big name, so a payday. So, no. And he's getting old, doesn't have a lot of prime fights left. Time to get paid now. But it depends on how things unfold. He would've got good pay fighting Jones, if that would've materialized, or if it can in the future.

And came back and won the belt in spectacular fashion by changing his game after many counted him out and his first shot was a disaster.

People who say stuff like this are quite obviously embittered and dumb themselves so is normal I suppose.

Francis made the right decision by himself and his values - also anyone who thinks he's done this without having had loads of conversations on the side scoping out his alternative options are kidding themselves.

Yeah, fighters don't often make the best businessmen.

But who knows what he can get against Fury, if that fight is still on the table. Would be cool if he can make actual bank, if only likely once.

Also, I doubt one beating from Fury is going to ruin his health. He is a big strong dude with not that much mileage. He can take a beating without too serious a consequences, IMO.

Where is this Fury vs Ngannou nonsense even coming from? That fight was never even close to being on the table. Ngannou brings absolutely no value or even effort to the table for any promoter to even think about especially after getting dropped by the UFC for not wanting to fight and being completely impossible to work with. Fury and his promoters aren't a charity and a fight against Ngannou would not have anywhere near the interest to generate the amount of money to make it worth their time to even think about.

On one end, he's living life on his own terms.

On the other hand, I really don't see what Fury's motivation would be of fighting Francis now that he is NOT the UFC champion. I doubt the UFC would allow UFC promo footage to be used in the boxing buildup now, especially now.

Either way I respect that he climbed his way to the top, did what he felt was best for him, and went out on top.

Fury has fought Derrick Chisora like 5 times

He will absolutely fight Ngannou.

That's why Dana is the boss

Go against him, you will regret it all your life.

Are you having a stroke?
Ya… I ruined it in an edit .. I said it would set a bad precedent if he makes tons of money boxing cause that would send a message that whiny QQing pays off. If he gets no big money offers this belt hoarding for 2 years crap is less likely to happen again

Francis isn't a boxer. Francis isn't ranked. Fury is fighting Usyk next. Need any more? We can go on.

Oh. Not a boxer. Damn imagine fighting someone that's not a boxer. That's never happened in the history of boxing. What was Conor's boxing record and rank before fighting Floyd? I forgot.

And yeah I'll believe Fury vs Usyk when they are in the ring. Those fights fall through all the time. And he could definitely fight after anyway.

No need to go on. You're a moron.

He’s not going to get anywhere near a title shot. All of the top fighters will knock him out when he inevitably gassed after a few rounds, or even before. He isn’t a good boxer, and his punches aren’t going to land as accurately or have the same effect with 10oz gloves on. He doesn’t even hit harder than the top HWs but still lacks the skill levels and experience they’ve got. He has no chance I succeeding at HW boxing

the only way this is a good move is if he gets a exhibition fight against someone like fury, and idiots are stupid enough to buy the ppv. He cashes out but gets 1 big payday. But he’s be leaving a sport where ge is a champ, just to take a beating for one payday

Hey, you're the shit for brains dullard who actually believes Francis is going to fight for the WBC heavyweight title despite being unranked. <45>

I’m sure he thought out his decision over and over again… I know we live in a society where money or fame seems to trump all, but there are other values and things that are important in life that influence a decision..especially a major life decision… who knows what Francis holds most valuable to him, but I’m sure it was a factor in his decision…

But its Francis who ducked <Dany07>That narrative where Jones was ducking Ngannou and the Heavyweights because the ufc doesnt pay him much to move on weighclass to fight a scary dude is now completely gone

You can say anything about Jones but this dude is a mofo who never turn down a fight, he fought all scary dudes UFC put in front of him
