Did DC take it easy on Anderson at 200 or just play it safe?

I saw someone comment this and have always sort of wondered myself.

He started out playing it safe, then when he realized that Anderson posed no threat to him on the ground, he took it easy.

Why can't the answer be both?

If he really wanted to stop Anderson he could've done, or at least tried to. He clearly was content to just win a decision without doing any real damage.

it was a short notice fight and Anderson has many unique ways of beating people, DC did what needed doing and got the W. He didnt have a camp based around fighting Anderson so why risk it right?

DC is vicious ontop, but he took it easy on Silva. It was honestly weird.

I think he probably went soft on him. Its hard to beat up your idols. Look at Mir and Cro-cop. Also Travis Fulton just had a weird fight where the winner tapped because he didnt want to keep punching Fulton in the face.

I think DC played it safe standing knowing Andy could KO him. With respect to on the ground he knew he could hold the position with very little risk. There is always a chance to get caught in a submission, for anyone, anytime, anywhere.

Lol @ people thinking that a fighter goes easy on another fighter in a pro mma fight

Both in a way, respect and gratitude while also keeping it safe the heck would he risk it if it worked like that, oh the 'fans' that already boo him for being the better guy then Jones... he didn't owe nothing.

Carried Silva.

DC is just a straight up nice guy, not a true killer like a lot of fighters.

You are misinterpreting 'easy' here it's more like safe, satisfied, no need to risk it because you already have it your way. Some form of coasting if you will.

The real question is .....

Would DC tool Silva in his roided prime ?

Yes .... yes he would.

Nope. Even 2 day notice, fresh out of surgery past prime Anderson is that good.

Prime Anderson has a good chance to KO DC.

It was UFC 200, not the fight night rubbish card. Everyone wanted to be on the card to get paid and gain exposure. Silva gave him a favour, it was nothing special to return the favour

DC took it easy on Anderson. If you look at the way he man handled Rumble, Gas, Josh Barnett and Dan Hendo, it was clear DC was not going hard. I thought he wanted Silva to come out with some dignity instead of ragDolling and tossing him around.

DC sparred with him and was being a nice guy. If he fought Andy like he did Volkan, Stipe or even Jones, he would have been rekt instantly.

Also, let us not forget what he just went thru one day earlier and being so mentally jacked by Jones. He just wanted to get paid, keep his belt, get the win, not scar Andy anymore than Chris did and live another day.

Compared to every other DC fight, yes he did. Dunno if it was respect or what. It was noticeable and weird.

Definitely not. Silva is dangerous, didn't allow DC to get anything done, and still landed some strikes that only Silva can land.

Silva haters are a plague.

For everyone that voted DC wasn't taking it easy on him: do you really think DC couldn't slam AS if he wanted to? Instead of just controlling him (like he did) actually Donkey Kong AS into dust?
