Did Cormier Prove why Fedor is the GOAT?

Cormier is among the UFC greats and what he was able to accomplish last week was nothing short of amazing. I've seen a few people give the Cormier vs. Fedor topic a go but has anyone considered that what Cormier did proves why Fedor was the GOAT and would have done well in the UFC? Cormier may be following in his footsteps in regards to how he approaches his fights both in study and game plan but that bout may have been similar to the Arlovski / Fedor fight. Miocic was getting the better of Cormier until the shot that took him out.

Now, Cormier is a tremendous wrestler but he doesn't have the striking or submissions that Fedor had/has. They are both about the same size but are able to use that "lack of size" to their advantage. For years we have heard of the UFC being elite and how Fedor was fighting cans but with all of the "Adonises / Prototypes" running around the UFC, you have a smaller chubby guy as your champion. Is that even supposed to be possible with Ngannous and Overeems in the UFC? Stand Ngannou, Overeem, Cormier and Dos Santos in a lineup and ask your average Joe who the champ is and, like Sherdog, they will all swear it is the guy with the biggest muscles.

Fedor and DC don’t really fight alike. They’re smallish but fast HW with elite grappling and good hand speed. At that size everyone is going to hit hard so speed becomes a big advantage and if you have elite grappling you can negate the size disadvantage.

If USADA went after him like they did Lance Armstrong, his MMA record be 0-1-0 with 23 NC and considering how the CSAC hearing went, they most likely will.

How could Cormier’s accomplishments say anything about Fedor?

Fedor and Cormier are about the same age, and both of them are past their athletic primes.

Past prime Cormier is WAY better than past prime Fedor.

Fedor was great, but even in his prime he didn’t consistently face top competition, and he was way ahead of the sport for a reason—even top competition in 2005 was nowhere near as skilled as it is today.

We never got to see a prime Cormier in MMA, and that’s a damn shame. Either way, no one in the history of the sport has done as much as Cormier in as little time, and no one—-except for the one guy that beat him—has a better record.

And he’d smash Jones on ‘roids, so...if all was fair, he’d probably be undefeated.

Cormier was a very good boy who behaved exactly as he should have. Now we're all set up for a CM Punk vs Lesnar tag team hell-in-a-cell matchup with dana white as a special guest ref. for the super duper heavyweight title. I'm oh so excited!

I almost agree but you are down playing the skills of the heavyweights past. Miocic is the "greatest champ" the UFC has ever had and he is nowhere near as well rounded as any of the fighters from the earlier eras. Although, my intention was not to take anything away from Cormier. He is a great champion.
