Did Conor get rocked because he gassed?

He came out hunting for a KO in the first and was putting everything into every shot. Let's face it, he probably KOs anyone he has ever faced in his life besides Nate with those shots he was blasting him with.
I think he was gassed by the time he got rocked. That isn't an excuse, just an observation. Conor game planned very poorly for this fight. He wasn't using body shots (kicks or punches)..he was loading up on big shots on Nate's chin which is great but Nate was eating them.. and worst of all once he tired he was simply standing in front of Nate flat footed with no head movement and his hands down. Of course he was going to get rocked with all of these things happening.
He did throw some body shots and I agree he started fading a little bit before Diaz hurt and finished him, but that probably happened because of Nate tagging him

I was going to say the same thing. Conor threw 3-4 nasty body shots, those worried me just as much as the cut Nate recieved.

I think he got rocked because Nate hit him a lot.

He got caught because of poor footwork. He circled right into Diaz's left hand multiple times. And finally did it again in the left hand that made him start back pedaling right before he shot the takedown. He tried to fight Nate like he was a righty. He was pawing at a lead hand that wasn't there and trying to step right and shoot the straight left. Only Nate's a southpaw too. Every straight left had to travel over Nate's lead hand. This lead to McG's lefts catching Nate at the end of his punches, when they had much less juice on them, since he had to stretch over Nate's lead.

Basic takeaway: McGregor was using southpaw vs righty tactics, but he was fighting a southpaw. Nate noticed and started tagging McGregor. I don't think McGregor was that gassed, I think he was losing confidence because his punches weren't putting Nate away.

He got rocked because Nate's fist connected with his face

Why would he gas?

He had a full camp and no weight cut. He should've been in the best shape of his life.

If you want an example of someone being rocked because they were gassed see McGregor vs Mendes.

no! thanks bro I needed you to tell me that
Well then quit asking stupid questions then.

Gassed...in the second round? The second freaking round of a five round fight, with a full camp?
Got hit and folded up like a lawn chair lol..

Man I'm sick of people saying he gassed caused he really brought it in the first round. If that is true that's pathetic your supposed to be one of the best fighters on the planet and you can only go 5 min. If it's true it's pathetic and unproffesional. Guys in the ufc and boxing have gone to war for a lot longer than 5 min. That's on some kimbo/dada shit. Smh

Diaz landed a great shot...Conor was a little gassed but it is what it is. Conor fought dumb and fell in love with the Left KO shot. Stopped setting it up with body kicks. Nate shocked me...thats for sure. Fuck!

Connor put on a TON of weight in the last 3 months. His cardio was clearly going to be suspect. Connor blew his wad right away throwing bombs and spinning kicks. The moment Nate him him with a solid punch (and then talked shit), he folded. Connor just gave up. He didn't even try to defend against Diaz on the ground, he just gave Nate the submission.

What I'm wondering is basically. Does being gassed cause your ability to take a shot to lessen?

Would Conor have eaten that shot in the first round? From any fighters perspective, do you get rocked easier when you're gassed?

Ive been rocked a few times boxing but I wasn't gassed so I really don't have an experience to compare.

He got punched in the face, bitch slapped, and then quit like a bitch.

If anything he gassed because he got rocked.
this happens a lot when people face nick or nate, those straight accurate punches that people think look weak rock your equilibrium and mess you up

I think he gassed because he didn't expect how durable Diaz is + he got rocked and realized oh crap I'm not going to win this.

From someone who just enjoyed the show, combination of blowing his load in the first, not used to fighting at that weight, and facing a lengthy and great boxer that was not at all intimidated by the spotlight. I saw his fucking beard puffing in and out in the second round and knew he was in deep shit lol. He hangs back and kicks the body and preserves his energy it is a different fight.

Overall poor gameplan from Conor and he paid for it, should have known he wasn't going to KO Diaz that fast. This is the fucking guy that leaned into a head kick and didn't go out. Overconfident and a portion of buying into his own hype, but I believe he will come back a smarter, more seasoned fighter. Its reaching but would love to see Diaz win the 155 belt and set up the biggest fight in UFC history by far.

He didnt gas, he got his ass beat. Nate beat the energy from him. He was slower in the 2nd, but he was still throwing normally. The second he got hit, he started getting him more and got his ass beat. He didnt gas, he got a beating and looked for a way out.
