He was fighting the right fight for his opponent. He looked fast but part of his strategy was maintaining a particular striking distance, vs when it was time to close for grappling/dirty boxing.

Cain really made Brown look uncomfortable and awkward on the feet by denying him his natural rhythm and distance.
