Did anyone else change their mind about Frankie Edgar after the Diaz Fight?

Before the Diaz fight I thought that conor would roll through Frankie Edgar and Ko him within two rounds, but after the performance Conor displayed when he fought Diaz, I believe that Conor simply does not have the cardio to beat Frankie Edgar.

Edgar is a tough, durable guy with great boxing and wrestling. If this fight happens I see Edgar pushing the pace and grinding Conor out until Conor breaks again and leaves himself open for a submission. The only way I don't see this happening is if Conor gets a Ko within the first two rounds. If the fight goes after the first two, I see Frankie taking it.

Frankie's Durability

Nope. This is a completely original idea for a thread title.

Well done playa.

If Gray Maynard couldn't finish the job with Frankie, then there's no way Conor can.

No. This is a regurgitated thread idea. Beating a dead horse.

No, I still think Conor can beat Frankie.

But I don't care, so long as these two guys fight. Either Conor gets back on track or Frankie becomes a two division champ. Both great fighters.

I've always believed that Edgar is a a bad match-up stylistically for Conor.

Well that is a silly thing to admit but points for honesty.

No.

I thought Frankie would tool Conor before the Nate fight, and still think that now.

Gray has two wins by KO/TKO out of eleven fights. He hit Frankie hard, but he's hardly a knockout specialist. I wouldn't use him as any sort of yardstick for Conor's potential success.

Nope, Edgar is a tough out for anyone. If you're not especially well rounded then you're in trouble with Frankie. That said McG is huge for the weight, and hits hard as fuck. Always has a herb dean chance to get an early stoppage. But Connor has shown way to many holes in his game to bet on him. Even after that spectacular performance vs Aldo

Paige showed more heart than Sage and Conor combined

Gray hits hard as fuck breh. He was a blanket wrestler 90% of his career before he found his hands, dude has ridic power. The record doesnt always display that. Fedor has like 10 KO wins despite being considered a huge puncher. Hendo is easily one of the hardest punchers ever and has less than a 50% KO ratio with 4 oz gloves. it's not always shown in the record.

Yep. I thought Conor would roll through Edgar too, but now I only slightly favor Conor for the same reasons you mentioned.

You've got to realize that as long as Cloner can continue to make 145, anyone fighting him has to survive the range discrepancy they're going to face, the power left straight, his ability to press them with reckless abandon and the realization that him being of the few guys who can dictate range with his fists are all wildcards that could lead to him finishing someone early. Frankie stylistically is his kryptonite so to speak. However, Frankie has been rocked before and Cloner hits incredibly fucking hard at that weight. To automatically assume Frankie would be able to survive what Cloner brings effortlessly would be foolish.

At the end of the day, styles make fights. Frankie has the tools to win. He's the better wrestler, with better cardio. His recovery when hurt is off the charts. His lateral movement and ability to change levels off of angles is something special. His top game is great and his submission finishing ability has grown exponentially these past few years. I expect him to win. He should win.

But... Power and size is the equalizer and Cloner has that. He definitely could win.

this is not popular to say in the current sherdog atmosphere but i became more convinced of conors ability to hold his belt after watching 196 than i was before

Hendo is a huge puncher, but he misses a lot. And that's the story of Gray much of the time.

Put it this way: Gray had Frankie hurt badly, but missed with some of his follow up - if Conor hurts Frankie I don't see Conor letting Frankie recover or missing with his follow up.

Quality analysis my dude

GTFO with this reasonable and balanced shit.

Before I thought Frankie would win a UD.

Now I think Frankie would submit him inside 3.
