I wasn't really listening properly as I had money on the four main fights and needed Bubba to win.

But Michael Williams said it was a unanimous decision for Bubba, and one of the scores was 30-27.
Actually I'm being a dick by asking this, so I just checked, and one judges did score the first round to Bubba

How? How do you win a round by spening 4 minutes with a man on your back while consantly defending the choke? Anyone know who that judge was?

Where you at Cecil?

Or do I remember the round completely wrong?

Also have to say, loved the main card top to bottom, all four fights had someone I either support or like watching, rare for Bellator these days. Thoroughly enjoyed it

and I won some money

peace

I said the exact same thing when I watched it. One judge gave Bubba the first round somehow. I have no idea how any judge could see Bubba winning that first round at all. There's no rational explanation. His "defense" was not more effective than the standing back control and multiple submission attempts that Goiti had.

In short, you don't lol

I had it 29/28 for Jenkins, with winning the last two rounds but he did nothing noteworthy in that first round and was on the defense almost the entire time. This is a troubling trend, as it seems like judges will just round up a 29/28 scorecard to 30/27, for seemingly no reason. Laziness maybe? The Evans-Smith/Reneau fight springs to mind as well, where I can somewhat see the logic in giving her the last 2 rounds, but she absolutely did not win that first round. There was another UFC fight recently where the same thing happened, but I can't recall which fight it was.

I honestly think the judges don't give a shit sometimes, and if there are two rounds in the bag, they will just fill in their scorecards however they please. We all know they will NEVER face any consequences for bad judging, ie not applying the scoring criteria properly.

That was ridiculous. Didn't matter in the end, but still, people like that shouldn't be judges

Rewatched that fight today; and that second round was the weakest 10-8 i've EVER seen given.
