Any wrestler who is starting to not get the better of striking exchanges will usually go for the take down. Weidman would no doubt bang a bit, but he always would have the wrestling to resort to. Diaz has KO power, but he usually doesn't swing for the fences, so he is not as big of a one-punch KO risk as other guys.

You're basically admitting that Weidman could obliterate Diaz on the ground and has the ability to take him down and do so, but you're banking on him standing and trading with Diaz and losing? Chris just beat Silva on the feet, I don't see what Diaz has for him anywhere. Maybe if Chris has a terrible gas tank and can't hang in the championship rounds, which I doubt, Diaz could win. Otherwise, Chris would win via stoppage.
