Law DeSantis promises to control Disney

When he was in Congress, he was further right than Ryan on economic stuff, opposing progressive taxation and wanting to phase out SS and Medicare/Medicaid. His 2011 book also attacked Obama for meeting with foreign dictators and saying "we sometimes make mistakes." Also claims that the Constitution was instituted to prevent "redistribution of wealth through the political process." Maybe he was just blowing with the wind then too? But that raises the question of what the guy really thinks and would do with more power. We've already seen him try to use his power to silence critics.

I mean, yes, he governs as a straight up fascist. That's true.

So because one guy does something worse it's ok to ignore a scumbag move by someone else?

Got it.
whats scummy about it? It's literally the thing the Republicans always cry about wanting to do. To limit business opportunities to those they dont agree with. The only difference was Disney was punished for PROVIDING a service. California punished CVS for denying services to others. So it boils down to whats more important to YOU. Denying service or providing.

So because it aligns with your beliefs it's ok for government to force businesses around? I'm pro choice and I don't like this one bit.

Do you agree that that RDS did was worse?

I don't think it's worse it's more of an apples and oranges thing. Desantis pisses me off because I'm a big believer in free speech. Newsom's thing pisses me off because he's getting himself involved in shit that doesn't involve his state.

I will say that RDS's thing seems more anger focused and he has been attacking Disney for a while so I could see how it looks worse.

Ron winning the battle...against jobs in Florida.

Walt Disney (NYSE:DIS) is scrapping a near-$1B office campus it planned to build in Florida, as well as related plans to relocate some 2,000 of its California workers to the offices, citing "changing business conditions."

Reading between those lines, though, it's part of the ongoing feud with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis over what Disney has called "targeted retaliation" against the company through crackdowns on its special taxing district.

The planned Lake Nona Town Center was set to bring more than 2,000 jobs to the Orlando region, at an average salary of $120,000. Many of those employees would have come from a Southern California department known as Imagineering, which works with Disney's moviemakers to develop theme park attractions.

And most of those employees complained harshly about the planned move, set up in 2021 during what Disney Parks chief Josh D'Amaro called Florida's "business-friendly climate," The New York Times noted. Meanwhile, Bob Iger, who recently returned as CEO, was much less enthusiastic about the Lake Nona development than Bob Chapek -- who took over from Iger as CEO in 2020 before his firing last year.

Now D'Amaro says business conditions are changing, and "I hope we're able to" continue plans for $17B in construction at Orlando's Disney World. But he's now looking at moving some 200 employees that already relocated back to California.

Are you purposefully being dense? I'm not a business expecting special perks.
They pay the most taxes in the State of Florida, more than any other business. Also the largest business.
If they did not have the special district, my property taxes would be double to triple what they are now, based on various reports/studies.
There is a reason, White Boots Ron, never touched the tax portion of the special district, because 2 counties would have revolted and f the two counties being the 5th and 15th largest in population in Florida, could fuck up a Senate or Governor race, because the whole county would turn on him.
This shit might be playing to the MAGA crowd outside of Florida, but he is getting killed in Florida. He fucked up home owners insurance, by protecting the insurance companies. People are pissed he is constantly dealing with Disney and not taking care of shit that effects their wallet, like insurance. Disney does not effect their wallet, insurance does.
Hell the candidate he supported in the Jacksonville mayor race just took a giant L this week. If you know Florida, a Democrat mayor winning Jacksonville, is a big deal, and ever bigger deal when she beat the doors off a Desantis approved Candidate.
He should have stuck to the gay and tranny stuff, and banning books written by Black Hall of Fame baseball players that talk about segregation, Disney just embarrassed him again, with a legal maneuver again. I guess that is what you get, when you spend tax dollars on your old roommates law firm to represent Florida.

Disney was going to bring 2000 employees to Central Florida, but now scrapped that plan. I bet local businesses and builders near by are super happy about losing 2000 potential customers, because The Manlet Meatball got mad someone disagreed with him.

The attack on Florida's largest employer, aint playing in Florida and starting to effect his numbers.

If I were Disney I'd make some moves that would make it appear that leaving Florida is slowly happening. This could look like the start of that. Just to see how fast theyd panic. Between trucker boycotts and refusal to work of migrants, and alienation of disney Florida's economy is gonna be looking weird in a few months.

I think Ron is getting more popular

More popular in GA. YOur poll is just GA. The same state that is getting ready to indict Trump. The same state with a popular Republican Governor, but the last 3 Senators that ran in GA were endorsed by Trump all 3 took the L. 1 of the 3 that lost is now in trouble for doing shady shit with his campaign money. Maybe he had another abortion to pay for.

Now with the loss of Jacksonville, there is only one city in the entire country with a million or more residents in Republican control. Just one, Fort Worth. Even in the middle of "conservative utopia" of Florida, they can't run a single city.

What a complete joke of a political movement.

And there are people out there who think they can run the entire country.
