i dont think boxing is harder. its much harder to stay in mma undefeaded and make 50 fights than in boxing. in boxing u can make much much more fights not in mma. and u say boxing is harder ? come on.
and the transition from stand up to ground is much harder in fighting than the single dimension of boxing with the big gloves.
Derrick Lewis on UFC Unfiltered podcast says he chose mma over boxing because mma is easier.
He believes the grappling aspect gives "resting" phases not allowed in boxing. So one does not need to train as hard as boxers do.
Do you believe he is on to something?
This.Competition in HW MMA is easier, not the sport itself (obviously).
as someone who has done / been a fan of both for a long..this is just way too simplistic of a comparisonmma is alone from the physical standpoint harder. in mma u have smaller gloves u can take ellbows u need to deal with grappling and submission, also with harder strikes from stand up.
mayweathers defense would not work in mma because he uses the big gloves for defense.
i dont think boxing is harder, because boxing is much more limited compared to mma. u cannot make 12 rounds in mma and most mma fighters are done after 30 fights.
Boxing being a single dimension is what makes it so hard. Its been around forever and has been broken down to a science that is ridiculously difficult to reach the top in. If you haven't been training since you were 4 then you probably are never going to make it to the top in Boxing. The talent pool is WAY deeper right now then in MMA. It is much harder to be a Floyd Mayweather in Boxing then a Jon Jones in MMA or a SRR then a Fedor
MMA will get there some day if it stays popular for longer
Seriously, I almost fell over reading that post. Acting as if Wladimir wasn't the king of the clinch during his reignSorry, what? Fury, for all of his absurd antics, mental health issues, and all around inconsistency outside the ring, is actually a very skilled HW (relative to the landscape of the current HW division, anyway). He soundly outboxed Wlad based on mostly on his superior footwork and ability to manipulate the timing and pace of the fight. Fury doesn't get in dog fights as he's a poor puncher with a chin that is a ways off from granite. He moves and boxes guys from the outside, and he's better at it than any HW out right now. Wlad is actually a fighter who has exploited the fact that referees don't like to enforce the rules on him with regards to the infighting. Fury has rarely had to benefit from this. If Fury actually got in an out and out dogfight with Wlad, he'd have likely been KO'd.
If you're Demien Maia.............................
UFC fights get easier and easier.
A lot of failed abortions on Sherdog getting triggered like a feminist cunt in a NFL locker room.
Boxing is absolutely harder physically, athletically and technically.
Matches are longer and for all the shitbirds crying about clinching, you get separated seconds into a clinch. In MMA, practically every match has motherfuckers taking a breather on the cage and holding their opponent there for SEVERAL seconds, if not damn near close to a minute.
There is no way to "disengage" in Boxing like there is in MMA through this wall and stall shit or like Conor or Condit running away like a hoe.
You can't corner your opponent in an octagon because of its inherent design. Whereas in the squared circle, you can corner your opponent easily.
MMA shits need to know what time it is.
Joshua didn't start training until he was 18, won a gold medal less than 5 years latter.
And for what it's worth, I've met MANY a fighter, be they boxers or mixed martial artists, and boxers tend to be WAY more down to earth and easy going.
But yes, boxers are HARDER humans...mentally and physically, and they put themselves in FAR more peril compared to MMA fighters...which has always added (in part) to the allure of the sweet science from a "romanticism" standpoint.
Life...and death...
You, sir, are an intelligent and cultured man who clearly knows what time it is.
Er, no.
In boxing, there's different styles, techniques, and ways of fighting, but it's still boxing. MMA is boxing, wrestling, BJJ, TKD, Muay Thai, various forms of karate, judo, and more. You have fighters from around the world with unique styles and abilities completely different from other opponents you've faced. One fight you could face a wrestle-boxer, the next you could face a Demian Maia-style BJJ fighter, the next you face a kickboxer. You have to train for those styles, learn enough to be able to feel comfortable facing them, and then apply your strengths over theirs to get the win.
I'm not trying to insult boxing here, but MMA is a far more complex sport and as a result it's more difficult. Period. Floyd never had to learn to kick or stuff a TD. That's the kind of thing you learn from the get-go in MMA.
Eh you can do more steroids in boxing thus allowing you to train harder. They get tested but its not as stringent.
