I like Derrick Lewis and I hope he does well, but if Anthony "Rumble" Johnson was unable to knock out DC, I highly doubt Lewis will.

I am very aware of that fight, but it seems you can't accept that Lewis poses a unique threat to Cormier, especially since he's not at 100%.

What's the unique threat tho ?
Lewis is a big guy with a iron chin and big power..that makes him a bad matchup for predominantly stand up fighters who have to either avoid all his shots and try n ko him (Travis brown, volkov) but a guy like DC just needs to win grappling exchanges, it doesn't matter if he doesn't ko derrick, he will gas him to the point where the takedowns will be predictable and still successful, now add in the fact that Lewis has a better shot selection for taller fighters, his overhand right would go right over cormiers head, against hunt he showed no jab, no straight, basically a poor shot selection for fighting a shorter stature fighter.


I'm not saying Lewis doesn't have a chance but to call him a terrible matchup idk, it's the opposite

Does no one else believe this fight is going to go exactly like Stipe vs Ngannou? Cause that how it’s going to be. Everyone will be waiting for Lewis to land that one shot for 25 minutes. Meanwhile, DC will be dry humping and GNP’ing Lewis the entire time... I’m not buying into the idea this is anything but a Hail Mary attempt for Lewis and likely the UFC’s way of removing him from the title picture.

I would not be surprised at all. I also would not be surprised if Black Beast actually wins on the ground and not standing, ground and pound. When Black Beast gets on top its over always, he has the best ground and pound in UFC, no one has better. When he gets on top there are no decisions or next round, he finishes everytime.

Taking this fight with a broken hand, doing it on a few weeks' notice, taking this one but not harder fights.. I think DC is over-confident and cocky. And looking past this fight already. That has caused some of the biggest upsets in the history of the sport. It's a perfect storm for DC to get KOd.

DC is very over confident by nature. I thought it would hurt him against Stipe, but it didn't.

With Lewis's gas tank and DC's fight IQ, I would be shocked if the fight lasts that long. Lots of fighters have taken the Black Beast down easily enough and I think DC subs him in one.
