I think Fincher has more all-time great movies, but I personally enjoy Villneuve's work more. Especially Arrival and Blade Runner. I loved Blade Runner.

Villenueve is overrated as hell. I'd rather watch the 2000 dune miniseries with its bad CGI and worse acting than his versions. The more I see them the less I like about his adaptation.

Before opening the thread i assumed i'd be picking the other way, but looking at that list of movies - Fincher

I love Se7en but outside of that movie I find fincher to be highly overrated.

That being said, I'd still put him slightly above Villeneuve, since I didn't enjoy blade runner or dune at all

Me neither. People keep talking about Dune and BR2049 as modern masterpieces but I just never connected to the characters. Felt empty.

Sicario is comfortably the best film between the 2 imo. Then it's Se7en> Incendies > Prisoners > Arrival

but Fincher has the classics from the 90s which are hard to beat
