Crime Democrats prove once again to be the real threat to democracy. Caught spying on senators.

Trump is:
- sending military to US cities
- openly admitting to hating his opponents,
- scolding Attorney General for not prosecuting democrats
- shutting down the government to prevent Epstein files investigation

yet somehow prosecutor tasked with investigating January 6th riots is a "real threat" to democracy? Why? Just cause some spineless republican sold out says so?

This tribalism in american politics is beyond destructive at this point - US is going under faster than Russia.
I’m glad he’s doing those things. Wish I could vote for him again

I really don’t care about the people that stormed the capitol on January 6. They were Republican’s useful idiots who took a (misguided) protest too far

But the people who were pressuring governors to manufacture votes? To get “alternate” electors in place to go against the votes of the people? They absolutely should have been investigated and we’re all paying the price for democrats excusing those crimes and not pressing charges on the real issues instead of a dumb financial taboo with a porn star affair. This here was the issue that should have been the legal case.

Hilarious fan fiction, I love this sort of satire. Bravo.
"We took freedom of speech away" - Trump on October 8th from White House Dining Room

You couldn't deny those previous facts, and you can't deny this one. How do you feel about a President who is willing to take away your freedom of speech?

I can remember reading about Jack Smith in the past. He is a political hitman for Democrats essentially. i'm not surprised that he would do something like this. Jack Smith was going after Trump and he failed. His case I recall was quite a stretch, but that didn't bother him and his supporters. They just wanted Trump taken down. Now news comes that other GOP members were apparently targeted by Smith. I have a sneaky feeling the table is about to the turned on the attorney.
Jack Smith had 2 cases against Trump (classified docs in FL and insurrection case in DC) and both had overwhelming amounts of evidence that Trump was guilty.

I don’t know what you mean by political hitman—he’s never been linked to either party (he’s an Independent) and his previous work involved prosecuting war criminals in The Hague. He was a great choice for Spec Counsel. Excellent attorney and nonpartisan.

Jack Smith's appointment will likely be found unconstitutional in the first place if the issue is ever pressed. To have such a precarious position in the first place and to abuse power so thoroughly is beyond arrogant. The Democrats, with the FBI and DOJ under their thumb, must have thought for sure that Trump would never get re-elected to be so brazen in their abuse of power. What they did makes Watergate look like a drop in the ocean. They clearly thought this would never be investigated.
- Would be so dam awesome if the name of the guy investigatin was Jack Ryan!

We didn’t excuse those crimes, did we? That’s what the GA RICO case is, and that case is still ongoing. Fake electors themselves have been charged in various states, those cases are having various outcomes as they move through the legal system in those states.
Here’s a quick summary if you’re interested.

AZ: A judge sent the case back to the grand jury because prosecutors didn’t supply the initial grand jury with the full text of the Electoral Count Act law. Prosecutors appealed but were rejected, so back to the grand jury it goes for a new indictment.

NV: still debating which jurisdiction is the correct venue to bring the case.

MI: Charges sadly dismissed after a judge determined there wasn’t enough evidence to prove criminal intent on the part of the fake electors themselves.

WI: Fake electors themselves have not been charged here, I’m not sure if we have an applicable law for it. If we don’t, good luck getting one because our legislature is majority Republican. There is a felony forgery case proceeding against 3 Trump associates for preparing and delivering the false documents though.

NM and PA: no charges ever filed.

Edit: should add that due to the infinite wisdom of the American voters, Trump is now safe from prosecution by virtue of being POTUS. Morons.

The GA rico case not going to trial before the 2024 election felt like excusing it. Jury never even got a chance to decide if their actions deserved consequences

The electors themselves were just pawns being used. Trump and the high ups who made and executed the plan until Pence wouldn’t go along with it are all free from consequences

NSA's been spying on everyone for years. nothingburger story.

everyone is spying on everyone. i dont care if politicians do it to each other. i care when the mass surveillance is turned on citizens.
and thanks to Palantir and Oracle, it probably will be! Trump loves Palantir.

In GA a lot of that was due to Trump’s repeated appeals and such, I don’t know how you stop that. Several of his associates plead guilty, and those that didn’t are still being charged in that case.

I place most of the blame on the voters, and I don’t know if they excused Trump’s behavior so much as they are ignorant of the cases, didn’t follow them and didn’t understand them. I remember just before Trump’s criminal NY case, I saw a poll where the majority of Americans didn’t feel the charges were serious or warranted.
—And then once the trial started , was covered in the media, and facts were in everyone’s faces, those poll numbers flipped.
Nothing had changed with the case except people’s awareness of it. The average voter isn’t a fuckin nerd like me sitting around reading indictments and court filings.

You don't care about the police protecting the capital getting beaten by flag poles and getting bear sprayed by a bunch of scumbags?

The exact opposite, actually. They were familiar with the cases, and decided they were obvious bullshit lawfare. Especially the one the Dems lead with and got "muh' 34 felony convictions" out of. You and the rest of Bluesky are free to disagree, but it doesn't make you smarter or more moral, or whatever other pedestal you want to put yourself on.

Most of it but the "Trump closed the gubment to protect Epstein" bullshit especially. Did I need to tell you this?
Quite the masterstroke By the Republicans in an effort to protect Trump from the Epstein files, to read Senate Democrats' minds and know they were going to make silly demands to a bill that had already passed in the House, and vote to shut the government down.

These people live on another planet.

I think a big part that we miss being war roomers, is just how out of touch the average person is

Even the most partisan hack here, right or left, is in the top 5-10% of americans for awareness
