Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., tore into Special Counsel Jack Smith, accusing him of "spying on political opponents" during the Jan. 6 probe and calling the alleged surveillance "an abuse of power beyond Watergate."

The FBI, working under Smith’s direction, obtained call logs and metadata tied to nearly a dozen GOP senators, including Hawley, as part of its investigation into the Capitol riot, Fox News reported. The tracking involved call records and timestamps, not the content of the conversations.

Hawley told Fox News Digital on Monday that the newly released documents suggest that Biden’s administration was "spying on the president’s political opponents," which he called "a profound violation of the separation of powers."

He said the activity fits what he views as part of a broader pattern of executive overreach under Biden, citing alleged surveillance of Catholic churches, parents at school board meetings and social media censorship.

Every accusation is an admission with democrats.

I hate to break it to you, but our entire Federal government is a threat to democracy.

Spying? Well they all do it. Some like Nixon, get caught. I'm sure Trump has surveillance on all of his enemies. He's insecure like that

Find the guy who's not spying and fire him. Cause everybody else doing it and he's giving himself a disadvantage

Yeah, the spin on this one is too stupid to even consider. Which is probably why this week old story still isn't getting any traction. We investigated your coup where you spread poo on the walls and killed five of your own, and we looked to see who you called while you planned it. Cry about it.

And this isn't distracting from the Epstein files.

I’m sure they had a warrant….. Right?

Jack Smith's appointment will likely be found unconstitutional in the first place if the issue is ever pressed. To have such a precarious position in the first place and to abuse power so thoroughly is beyond arrogant. The Democrats, with the FBI and DOJ under their thumb, must have thought for sure that Trump would never get re-elected to be so brazen in their abuse of power. What they did makes Watergate look like a drop in the ocean. They clearly thought this would never be investigated.

Did we fall for it again?
I dunno. I’m not going to read his thread. He’s a complete and total partisan and I can’t remember the last time I saw him add anything to a thread. Guess he’s back to liking Fox News though.
