It was a trap so Dana could blame MM when the PPV he'd set up to do big numbers inevitably didn't do big numbers. He also might not have made 125 and for MM at this point getting title defenses was his number 1 priority and he wouldn't want to fight at catchweight.
MM did agree to fight Cody(the 135 champ at the time) and did move to 135 in ONE. 125 is a division in ONE he could have remained at 125 and challenged himself less.
