Could Mighty Mouse have beaten Dillashaw and become a 2 weight champion?

Yes.

MM was in the right for rejecting the fight because TJ wasn't even a champ and the idea that this fight would have sold a lot of PPV's was a fallacy. It was a trap so Dana could blame MM when the PPV he'd set up to do big numbers inevitably didn't do big numbers. He also might not have made 125 and for MM at this point getting title defenses was his number 1 priority and he wouldn't want to fight at catchweight.

MM did agree to fight Cody(the 135 champ at the time) and did move to 135 in ONE. 125 is a division in ONE he could have remained at 125 and challenged himself less.

Biggest mistake of his career. He should have tried moving up again. Or at least accepted the fight at 125. He had a good shot at either weight imo. And moving up wouldn’t have affected his 125 legacy.

He should have.

Instead he fought contenders in a weak division to try and establish a title defence record which didn't give him the same legacy a 2 division champion would have.

Yeah he could have. He's overall better. The size difference is the big obstacle

135 in ONE is basically 125 in other orgs. All weight classes jump up a little in weight.

He's undersized for bantamweight, he's a good bit smaller than Cejudo. He is appropriately sized for 125lbs by UFC standards.

Either way, we know TJ was a PEDS cheat, and it would have been unfortunate if he got to fight an all-time great like DJ.

I think it would've been 50/50 but also a great fight.
50/50 because I clearly remember how MM looked in the Cruz fight at 135.
Mouse truly was a FLW.

It's called Flyweight but I don't understand how 135 equals 125. The weight class he's in has the same weight limit as UFC bantamweight. Once MM cleaned out 125 in the UFC the main thing keeping him at 125 was getting the title defense record.

Also MM was dramatically worse before the Joe B rematch and pointing at his earlier struggles in the UFC's BW division against Cruz and Torres doesn't mean he couldn't have won the UFC BW belt. At 125 he was considerably worse in the early years of his reign and I didn't expect him to remain champ for long. From late 2013 onwards MM was on an entirely different level than he'd been on in 2012 and it's one of the more rapid improvements we've seen in MMA history.

Still think cruz beats him but I don’t think MM was at his peak skills wise when they fought. He improved all his facets especially striking a good bit in the years after. This fight takes places in 2014-2016 I think it’s a good bit more competitive

That's just objectively not true.

Sure it rhymes and rolls off the tongue, but that doesn't mean it is accurate at all.

DJ was small even for a Flyweight. He might have been the smallest flyweight and he gets hurt bad at 135. It just was no good for him.

Keep in mind I love DJ.

It's the weight cutting rules they employ. In cage weights for fighters in both orgs is similar for any given named division. One just tries to avoid the majority of the last water weight cut since that fella died
It’s shocking how ignorant some sherdoggers are on shit like this. My fave is when a fights been announced for over a month and someone’s like I didn’t know they were fighting. There are multiple mma sites. Is this unknown to other sherdoggers or do they just not view them? So weird

He was 14-2 at 135.
He's 16-2-1 at 125.

I'd pick TJ if I was forced to put money down but I still like DJ's chances.

Possibly but we are seeing in ONE why DJ never went up in weight. He was still winning there but had a lot more trouble with the bigger dudes.
