Rollmore,

As it appears that this thread is winding down were you able to determine if Defense Soap is worth it?

another happy customer here. ordered a bar a few weeks back on a whim (didn't know i could have gotten a freebie in this thread!), liked it so much i ordered a 5 pack last week.

my priority was to switch to a natural soap and I had heard nothing but good things about this stuff... I particularly found that Amazon has tons of glowing reviews, especially from non-grapplers with skin conditions. My girlfriend has also been working on making her own soaps and skin care products and uses a lot of the same ingredients. Even if it's no better than regular soap, I'd much rather use natural products, and after reading this thread, I'm happy to pay a premium for a company that supports the sport/community and comes here to speak directly to its customers about the product.

Thanks nickp08,

We always see customers buy 1 bar first. I can't blame them but more times then not they come back with the 5 or 6 pack order. That is why we offer our free samples. We believe in our soap and stand behind.

Thanks again and wish your girl good luck with her soap making endeavors.

I can say I like the bar at home and the liquid soap for at the gym ( keeps well in my bag)
And I also use the wipes in a pinch especially wipe my feet off before putting my shoes back on or
If I can't rinse off at the gym.

Regarding gel vs. bar soap. What's more effective or is it all the same?

The face soap seemed to prevent my face from breaking out, good stuff!

definitely works great but i must warn the gel dries the shit out of your skin. i only use it in the summer time when its really sweaty in gym and ringworm chance is higher. if i use it in the winter it just leaves a dry patch. and no im not going to moisturize after lol

Really? I exclusively use the gel and it seems to be easier on my skin. Maybe we have different skin types.

Do you use their bar soap?

defense soap is bullshit just like 90% of everything sold having to do with grappling

Both our shower gel and bar soap have the same mixture of TTO and EUO which is 2 percent. The gel is in a coconut oil base while the bar is in a vegetable oil base. For most people the coconut oil will act as a moisturizer.

Save yourselves some cash and get the tea tree oil soap at Trader Joe's for a buck a bar. It's been working great for me for years.

I have never used your product before but I know it is a high quality product from the ingredients. I am highly considering ordering the wipes, since sometimes I need to go somewhere right after training and am unable to shower.

One question I had was based on an observation I made. I have been using other natural soaps for a while, such as Dr. Bronner's. The main ingredient is both your product and many other natural soaps is saponified coconut oil/extract. That is an active ingredient that helps combat many types of bacteria yet sparing the natural flora on your skin. What makes your product different than the other ones out there? Please don't take this as a call out, just really curious as there might be more I don't know about

Seems to me like the main ingredient defense soap advertises is tea tree oil, not coconut oil. They don't seem to use coconut oil in the bar soap at all actually.

I was wondering, is there a reason why there isn't a separation of active ingredients vs. inactive ingredients? That seems to be the norm with most drugs, antimicrobial products, etc.

Tea tree is mostly an anti-fungal. Great for avoiding ringworm, but it doesn't do much against staph or MRSA or all that other nastiness that can be on the mats besides ringworm.
