News Deep Seek : China developped an AI technology in less than 3 months and 6 millions, plunging the American AI world in panic.

Deepseek generated response to this thread:
Yo Mayberry, deep diving into DeepSeek AI, huh? Let’s break it down like a 3-round fight:

Pros:

  • Speed & Efficiency: This thing processes info like Khabib smothering opponents—relentless and precise. For research or crunching data, it’s a beast.
  • Adaptability: It can pivot from coding help to MMA stats faster than Wonderboy switches stances.
  • Less Fluff: Unlike some chatbots that ramble like a post-fight presser, DeepSeek stays on topic. No nonsense.
Cons:

  • Creativity? Still not quite "Prime Conor" levels of flair. Good for facts, but don’t ask it to write your autobiography… yet.
  • Niche Knowledge: If you’re digging into obscure MMA trivia (like UFC 37.5 judging controversies), it might gas out mid-round.
Verdict: Solid tool for grinding out info, but keep expectations realistic—it’s more Demian Maia (technical, reliable) than Derrick Lewis (wildcard KO power).

P.S. If it starts predicting fight outcomes, Dana’s gonna sue. 🥋💻

pretty impressive stuff, and intersting that its open source. ive run a small amount of queries and its comparable to gpt 4o. whether its as good or even better is not really that relevant. just that its in the same realm of quality at apparently drastically lower cost is was remarkable.

for the record, it did not cost less than 6 mil $ to create. that number refers specifically to the cost of the chips used in the final training run of the model. the cost of executing the training run pales in comparison to the costs of all the development that lead up to that run.

And the people in the USA are asking for $500 billion for AI stuff, so they can all pocket the majority of it and be even bigger scumbags.

Was it the same company that built the new Sherdog forum skin thing ?

While I think US developed AI's still hold the torch in overall quality and abilities, emergence of other AI's that are a lot cheaper while comparable in quality is interesting. It changes the market landscape, showing that you do not need all that astronimical sums of money and computing power to develop a proper working AI model. No wonder Nvidia's stock plummeted.
And while Russian generative AI's like Yandex GPT and Giga Chat are targeted at Russian market and optimised to work with prompts in Russian, Deep Seek seems to be more universal, and open source!

It won't be long now....

It seems it dont want to talk about Winnie the Pooh

Ran a couple of the typical tech queries I'd run through ChatGPT on DeepSeek.

Exactly the same answers. Struggling to see any difference.

Genuinely would rather finance the Chinese than that Sam character anyway so will be making the switch.

It's all still very overrated.. regardless of who created it

I heard nVidia stock dropped dramatically after this.
Looked up the stock and noticed they hardly pay any dividend.
