hmmm...yeah... more or less controversial, not sure it really deserves a Decons tbh...

There was actually a lil bit of [timid] strikin´...

Another perspective, 3 moments here: [Hyan Gracie vs DaPunk MinowaMan]

1- The Tale of the Tape [from Pride Org.] indicates that there´s no weight difference between the 2 fighters.

2- Mauro, at the begininn´of the fight, informs that there´s indeed a weight difference, but < 10 kg [consequently, no influence on the scorin´]:

Hyan Gracie [5'11 - 200 lbs] vs Minowaman [5'9 - 185 lbs]

3- Hume, who was not Judgin´at that fight, but at ringside commentatin´, then contradicts Mauro & informs that there´s indeed a 10 kg difference [consequently, influence on the scorin´], but that Minowaman allowed everythin´on the ground.


Overall, what´s the readin´here? > Pride was disorganized, & several layers of info. were spread left & right.
Which one was the most 'reliable', potentially? Them Judges´.

With all the info. added since last year, this Decons obviously will have to be reformulated....

Goin´a lil further & speculatin´about a potential final scorin´at the end of that 1st Rd (had the Judges known that there was no possible extra Round):

In that other highly controversial OW fight [Vitor Gracie vs Heath Herring], 2 of these Judges were again involved:
Takashi Kobayashi & Yoshinori Nishi both scored it for Vitor.
Consequently, there´s a pretty decent chance, in terms of modus operandi when it comes to scorin´, that they would have scored the fight for SAKU at the end of that [1st] decisive Round, with Berto possibly scorin´it for Mezger [Split Decision].

About the SAKU vs Ronin gentlemen´s 'agreement':

Here Elvis tellin´a nice story about his 1st fight with SAKU...
Durin´the weigh-in, SAKU kindah 'fooled' him, tellin´him that they would not trade punches durin´the fight, "only ground game"...
And boom... SAKU throwin´a combo & breakin´Elvis´nose...
