News Deadline: Jake Paul reduces amount asked for fighter pay in last ditch offer to get Dana to accept

What y’all think Dana should do more:

  • Give Fighters Healthcare

  • Increase minimum pay

I like the idea of more bonuses. At least more bonuses that result in a finish. An other words, if every fight ends in a finish, every fighter gets a bonus. Id rather see every fighter get a 50k bonus then get 50k no matter how well they perform.

Health care seems like a basic that should already be in place... Everyone wants to get paid more whatever they do.

Health care is the clear winner.

Get rid of minimum pay. Drastically increase the amount and number of bonuses to really incentivize fighters to put on exciting fights. The bonus pool should be at least $1 million per event.

Give long-term healthcare and pension benefits to fighters that reach a certain number of fights in the UFC. Long-term healthcare could start at 6 fights and pension benefits could start at 12 fights. Long-term healthcare is forfeited if fighters compete in a different organization or combat sport after their time in the UFC.
This is a great post.

Calling out scumbags like Dana is always a worthy cause.
The thing is, anyone in Dana’s position will do most of the same things. It’s the job. If they didn’t do it, they would find someone else. You wouldn’t do things much different if you were in the role.

You can separate Dana’s persona from how the ufc runs their business financially.

Unpopular position I know….

You are severly underestimating how much long term healthcare is, especially for people who compete in a combat sport.

poll options: where are "Give Both" and "None Of The Above"

most fighters that are not American live in places with free health care so there would be no benefit for them.

increase money percentage ya greedy bastards.

I respect Jake now more than the average sherdogger tbh and I hate to admit it

They get healthcare for any fight or training related injuries while under contract.

People want the fighters to get lifetime healthcare that lasts after they are done working for the UFC or any other MMA promotion:
Do other sports do that? If so, there must some minimum time in?
Outside of sports, it sounds improbable except for someone who was employed by a company for a long time. Maybe Hollywood gets something like this?

Oh man, the deadline is almost up! What's gonna happen?!?!

I got a feeling Jake is going to become a promoter and save combat sports.

pfftlols

Or maybe a new AAA video game will come out and flop, and he can save that world with an expiring offer.

Jake is so obsessed with the UFC because he knows boxing is worthless and nobody knows who most of the boxers are

Sure, it'd be great if the fighters made more money.
But if they're in the UFC in the first place, is because they need (or just want) the company to organize everything surrounding the fight, including broadcasting, advertisement, matchmaking, and probably a lot of shit I can't even begin to think of.
If they feel that fighting in the UFC is definitely not the best or easiest way to get rich, I'd advise them to leave when they can and instead do the easiest thing.

Because I doubt the UFC would suddenly become a philanthropic organization.
I'm not even being sarcastic, they should do what's best for themselves, without irrealistically expecting their surrounding to change.
I actually feel for the fighters that have to keep fighting for as long as they can, because they have no other marketable skills. That's not a job you should do for that long.

Bellator: Home of the fighters with pre-existing medical conditions.

On America the only people i can think of that get healthcare for life are government employees, that should give you an idea of how expensive it is.

Only the really big ones like NBA, NFL, and MLB. I highly doubt rugby or tennis could afford that.

I don’t know if the UFC could provide this. I mean they are really small compare to big sports like Football and Baseball— that generate 8-15 times the revenue.

Outside of sports, it sounds improbable except for someone who was employed by a company for a long time. Maybe Hollywood gets something like this?

Nah. Hollywood the actors make millions so they don’t need this. And the rest of the film crew is left to rot

you guys do know that ship has sailed when WME bought the UFC. It is now a publicly trade company, and the execs love the fact the the UFC is only paying 18% of their revenue and bleeding the fighters dry.

Even if Dana had a awakening, he wouldn't have the power to do anything. He would get fired and sued if he were to drastically decrease WME's profits by raising fighter pay.

The only way the fighters get better pay and health care is to unionize, that's literally it.

I think fighter pay should be WINNER TAKE ALL unless its a decision, then an even split.

Dana White fucked up when he replied...part of me thinks they will end up having business in some type of way before it is all said and done. Otherwise why would Dana even bother.
DFW vs Jake Paul would be the biggest PPV in history. And I'd pay to watch it.
