DDP lacks the strategy gene to beat Khamzat

I think Khamzat probably gets DDP out of there in the first but if it goes longer, I have DDP. Great fight - no clue which way this one goes

He looked so sloppy in his first ufc fights. In the Whittaker fight he was alot more technically and tactically sound, and fought as a southpaw. He was also alot more defensively responsible.

I thought he also looked solid vs Strickland, these first few performances in the UFC probably were sloppier due to nerves and worse cardio due to his nose-issues.

His coach seems smart, they are able to come up with good game plans, and Dricus is smart enough to follow a game plan.

I don't think it will be enough in this match-up though, but I look forward to seeing it.

He's the kind of fighter who can be seemingly losing before he's winning, find a KO or a sub out of nowhere, which makes this more compelling than Khamzat vs Strickland or Whittaker.

Could see it becoming a back and forth kind of fight if it goes to the later rounds, both of them can still be effective even while they look like they run on fumes, and have toughness + finishing ability.

I also think we can't judge Dricus too hard on his Brunson performance, just as we can't judge Khamzat too hard on his Burns performance. It's normal for a young fighter to improve with experience and learn from previous mistakes, which we've seen both of them do.

Per straight forward strategy here.

DDP to learn TDD and how to stand up, sub escapes.

Hope for Khamzat to gas and outsrike him.

The major issue with fighting these wrestlers is that you can’t take the lead against them. Once they initiate the TD sequence, you are reacting to everything they do, rather than imposing your own will. Eastern bloc Wrestlers take the lead and don’t let it go.

You’d be very surprised, Brunson absolutely ragdolled DDP in the first, and khamzat has a way better sub game.
In the Brunson fight he was taken down when he threw a body kick in the 1st round. I wonder what he will look like on the feet against someone who is a very dangerous takedown threat, since he hasn't had to worry about that at all in his last few fights.

If he overextends with a lot of his kicks and punches, he will end up on his back, regardless of how strong he is.

DDP seems to regain cardio and kum doesn't so if it goes 2+ I got DDP by late 4th or 5th stoppage

So this. Kumshot utterly mauled Bobby, but DDP manhandled Bobby as well. And I honestly think that if Bobby would have survived into the second (and, you know, maybe not get taken down immediately) that Kumshot actually burnt a ton of fuel that round. . . .meanwhile, DDP looks red, huffing, pufffing, throwing faded punches one second, and then turns around and starts head-hunted with relentless strings of combos.

Everyone should be pumped for this fight regardless.

You can never ever count DDP out. One of those rampaging gorilla charges can catch anyone off guard

I've been on DDPs wagon a while now, and have always rooted for him . . . but up until his Bobby Knuckles fight I thought he was going to lose every single fight (because. . . just look at his fighting style, man!). . . I've been wrong about him almost every fight.
But now, like you say, he is literally the one fighter in the UFC that I'll simply never count out.

Beating Whittaker makes you a top fighter for sure.

All he has to do survive that first bullrush onslaught, then touch that mofo’s chin
I think Kham’s chin is suspect

I think all of these scenarios with the charges and everything are not as important as the question if DDP can stuff the early TD. We all know it is coming but if you can't stop it is probably a wrap.

Can Chimaev go 5 rounds? How good is his chin against a guy with big power? If Khamzat doesn't win this fight in the first 2 rounds, DDP keeps the belt.

lmfao DDP doubters never learn
Khamzat had never faced someone as big, as strong and as skilled as him. Who else has he fought that weighs 215 - 220 lbs fight night, same height as him and is built like a tank and has out grappled everyone he fought? Just bizarre as this is the same story before every Dricus fight. People just love to underestimate him. Before the Adesanya fight, I something like 32 out of 34 pro MMA fighters predicted Adesanya was going to steamroll him. Lol

It never ceases to amaze me that people keep underestimating DDP. Yes, he moves weird, but it doesn't mean he doesn't have strategy. He's constantly changing stances and he does it for a reason and he mixes up takedown's very well with his punches and kicks.

I think Khamzat is the one being underestimated.
