Interesting comments from Cormier, and I would tend to agree, outside of Stipe carrying alot more power in his hands than Jones.

PEDs aside, Jones may have THE most complete skill-set in MMA, save for maybe Mighty Mouse. His MMA wrestling is phenomenal.

But DC acknowledges that his biggest kryptonite was the kicking game of Jones.

He says that Stipes style more mirrors his own - A combination of boxing and wrestling. He says that although Miocic is very well rounded, he tends to stay within those parameters more than anything.

Makes one think, matching skill-for-skill (wrestling, boxing) that these guys both tend to center around, who comes out on top?

He's not wrong. (a) Jones' kicking game was indeed the biggest problem for him and (b) Stipe does indeed reflect his style (i.e. boxing-wrestling).

That said, I think Stipe beats him. Size, reach, these Still, DC deserves MASSIVE respect for stepping up and I think he's going down as one of the greats regardless.

Stipe will not break after 5 minutes like Volkan or AJ.

He has the wrestling and size to defend against DC.

And he has the power and boxing to stop him.

I am leaning towards Stipe. But DC winning would not be an upset to me. He has great wrestling and good boxing and speed.

It wll definitely be a competitive fight. Stipe is not that much bigger.

Stipe has advantages, the main of which is his reach, but we saw in the Gus fight that DC can get inside and land uppercuts.

That's the glass half full way to look at it, but at least DC had a boxing advantage on Jones, and in the second fight was doing very well in exploiting that.

I don't think he has any clear advantages against Stipe.

This is a valid argument with a fighter that is "one and done" in title fights. Stipe has won multiple title fights, and five in a row at Heavyweight.
