“He got the job done. A lot of times most guys don’t have their best performance, they lose. They don’t get it done. That shows just how special Jon is,” Cormier said in an interview on Fox Sports 1. “That being said, I’m very disappointed that I didn’t get to compete tonight because I do believe if he showed up in the form he did tonight, if this is the new Jon Jones, there is no way that he can beat me.”

Agree?

I think he is correct.

Although Jones beats DC 9/10 times.. in this case he is probably right.. Jones showed major ring rust there

Can he pass the sidekick of death though?

Yeah Daniel probably could have beaten that version of Jones.. who knows it would have still been close IMO

OSP didn't have Jon in danger at any point in the fight, and the leg kick range that jon kept going to might have been devastating with the way DC pushes forward. If Jon was getting rocked, gassing out, or getting tossed by OSP i think DC would have a strong argument, but we didn't see that.

Doesn't Cormier always talk about how he wants to fight the best Jon Jones or something? Now he deeply regrets not fighting him after he took a year off and was a "lesser version"... lol

What is he supposed to say..

I believe Jones would have had to rise to the occasion though. OSP didn't make it a fight and Jones was able to cruise, DC would have pressured and Jones would have responded. I don't think DC ever beats Jones, he couldn't beat him when he was cracked out how's he gonna beat sober Jones

He has some nerve calling Jones fake. He way worse, can't stand that guy

He's disappointed that he didn't get a chance to get a win with an asterisk next to it(according to him)? That's after dropping a loss to Jones when both were fully prepared and both practically undefeated.

What happened to DC's competitive spirit? First hoping for OSP to derail his rematch with Jones, now this.

Yeah he let that slip out during the fight commentary. Goldie even called him on it lol.

Where do you come up with 9/10 stuff, they've fought once in a very competitive fight

Fuckin hell, how should I know Daniel you pulled out of the fight?

lmao, really? That's funny, I must have missed it. There were a shitload of awkward moments tonight for DC on commentary though.

*holds Frank Mir against the cage for 15 minutes*

EMBRACE THE GRIND

*gets controlled for 2 rounds against Jones*

BULLSHIT. NEW REF FOR FUCKS SAKE.

Yea crying to the commission for a new ref lol, straight bitch made

I don't think it matters. Dc is injured, and jones used this fight to shake off some rust. The result of the eminent rematch is largely unknown, but you gotta favor Jones. I'm not even a fan.

What I don't get is all the flak he's gotten. I swear people (announcers, journalists, posters) are acting like he put on a lousy shitshow. Give me a break: won every round, slammed him matt hughes style 3 times, significant spinning shit, near finish in 4th round, breaks arm, it goes on. Over a game OSP from ring rust.

Not as ominous of a preview towards DC 2 as so many claim. Sure, Daniel got awesome experience fighting Gus and Rumble, but Jones is still great, he just couldn't score a win quite like DJ did.

The Cormier that showed up tonight couldn't even fight.

If Jones proved anything against DC and Gus, is that he always finds a way to win. Hindsight is 20/20--until I see someone beat Jones, I will still think he would've found a way to beat DC even tonight.

Furthermore... I didn't see a single eye poke! Maybe I was too high though
