I stand by my take
The critique wasn't that stats couldn't possibly be manipulated, but rather that the correct response obviously isn't sending in the national guard over anecdotes.
And if the rebuttal is that "It wasn't anecdotes. Crime was out of control to such a degree that this was the only appropriate response, we just couldn't prove it because of the Chief's corruption", then surely, we would be talking about criminal charges for her, right?
Instead, they said this 'corruption' didn't rise to the level of a crime. The republican-led committee actual provided no examples or even claims of direct statistic manipulation. They claim a general policy emphasis based upon the testimony of senior officers (which I actually believe to be true, btw). But even assuming that is the case, it still doesn't prove an emergency.
Therefore, I think the normal response would be to replace her, not send in the fuckin national guard lol.
