I don’t know how he would perform at hw at this stage in his career but when Jones was in his prime he looked to be on a completely different level even than guys like Cormier himself who was head and shoulders above the rest of his division.

Oh, I covered this extensively and the results don’t come out favourably for Fedor. Look at the current champs:

Ngannou- older than Fedor in SF, but less mileage

Glover- much older and more mileage

Izzy- about the same age and the same mileage

Usman- older and almost the same mileage

Oliviera- same age and more mileage

Volk- same age and only tiny bit less mileage

So no, being 33 years old with 30 pro fights isn’t an excuse for me a fighter

So what? Lol. Some guys are out of their best much earlier. Cain for example, or Shogun. It’s an individual thing not a simple formula. Not to mention, facing Colby and Mas is not like facing Nogueira, Cro Cop, Coleman, Hunt, Sylvia, Arlovski, Werdum… only Oliviera has fought even close to the level of competition for as long. Not all mileage is the same either.

I actually think Fedir talent wise wouldn’t be able to accomplish today what he did back then. So, I get what DC is saying and don’t really disagree. That being said, I think he still has claim as the great HE but not so much as the most talented.

Now I hope you don’t think I’m a nuthugger, the point of my reply...you emphasize mileage in your post. Usman has similar mileage and so on. How are you measuring mileage? It can’t be fights considering Usman as 2/3s the fights when Fedor started losing. So what are you basing it on?

If you add TUF fights Usman has 24 fights, which is just a bit less than Fedor, both have been competing professionally for 9+ years and Usman has actually spent more time in the cage than Fedor did. Fedor had many 1R finishes were he really didn’t take much damage.
