You nailed that list of names. A few months ago I collated various P4P rankings and DC was a tie with Aldo.
I just a suggest DC and Khabib will both be lower in 10 years time, assuming no one else is added (Usman, etc). After recency bias wears off. Just an opinion. Cheers.
Here is how that collection of rankings went btw:
#1 GSP (by a wide margin)
#2 Jones (by a wide margin)
#3 A Silva (by a wide margin)
#4 was a virtual 3-way tie (Khabib, DJ, Fedor)
#7 was a virtual 2-way tie (Aldo, DC)
#9 was a virtual 6-way tie (Stipe, Couture, Hughes, Conor, Cruz, Penn)
#15 was a virtual 2-way tie (Hendo, Holloway)
I think some guys are underrated, arguably, all-time but it's logical. For example Hendo. He never won a UFC belt, and he lost the Shields in SF for the 185 title there. He has the Pride GPs, but DC has a Strikeforce (psuedo-Pride really...) HW GP on top of two divisional belts in the UFC. Only second fiddle to Jon Jones, and only ever losing to Jones/Stipe basically...or literally.
Agree that there is recency bias...but maybe not. For example, what if Derrick Lewis beats Ngannou next? Then DC's complete and utter ragdoll domination of Lewis looks even better, and that win looks much better than it currently does for legacy purposes.
But yeah there's always going to be guys like Cruz now who's probably underrated. Like Faber who's not even listed but has an argument to be on that list there.
I think Couture is overrated as well personally, he kind of gets special treatment vs other guys like say Faber or Franklin or your Tito-Liddell-Rampage-Wand types
