Between fans at the event and sherdog, I can't believe the amount of negativity being leveled at Cormier here.

Dude was scheduled to fight Jon Jones, a VERY different stylistic match-up altogether.

Jon FAILS the USADA testing protocol at the LAST minute before the fight.

So the fight is OFF. DC is devastated. But says he would STILL like to compete, regardless.

Anderson Silva, arguably the greatest fighter and champion in MMA of ALL TIME answers the call to step in, on nearly a COUPLE DAYS notice. And Cormier AGREES to accept that fight, on the SAME zero-time notice.

Cormier had NO TIME to prepare for a RADICALLY different style, but took the gamble anyway.

He fought EXACTLY how he should have under the circumstances! He fought to HIS strengths, and totally nullified Andersons. And THIS is what has enraged so many folks. I'm a little baffled by this.

Do all the people moaning and groaning expect Daniel to stand and trade shots with literally the GREATEST STRIKER in the history of MMA on 2 days notice? He would be completely RETARDED to have done that.

But if I didn't know any better, that is EXACTLY what everyone is bashing him for.

Is this MIXED Martial Arts, or the Ultimate KICKBOXING Championship?

Truly Bizarre, MMA fans.

I don't like Cormier because he's a boring fighter, never liked his style.

But props to him for winning and playing to his strengths. But I really wanted to see him squash Jones, and not Silva.

Thank you for this.

Jon's accounts keep getting hacked

I miss the times when @Arm Barbarian was the P4P best gif poster on 9gag...erm i mean sherdog...

DC is basically a meme now thanks to Sherdog.

:>

I have no problem with DC coasting. I definitely won't praise him for it or act like the fight wasn't boring though.

DC fought an opponent 20+ lbs less than him but still LNP'd.

he deserves the hate and deserves to be in my sig..

The former strikeforce heavyweight champion of the world, and current UFC LHW was afraid of a middle weight whose lost 4 of his last 5 (his only win being against a welterweight, nick diaz, whose last win was against a lightweight, BJ Penn in 2011).

These are the same mark-ass nukkas that cried about Jones ruining the card and how they will never forgive him again, but will be right back on his bandwagon whenever he returns.

DC in wwe terms is Bret hart.
People tend to prefer Shawn Michaels or stone cold.

People often find nice and good as boring. Fighting smart as lame

DC played it safe against a much smaller 41 year old opponent with less than 2 days notice and no training camp at all. I usually agree with almost everything you say @Arm Barbarian but I can't on this one.

He should have switched gears when it was apparent that he could do no damage from the blanket position.. I could even understand it if he was getting his ass kicked in the standup but that just wasn't the case here..

Thank you for saying this. People need to open their eyes.

If I didn't know any better I'd think these guys are racist

that was a pathetic display by cormier who wasn't fighting for the title and had a massive weight advantage

If people aren't entertained they will complain, welcome to the Internet.

But but he was a wrestler scoring takedowns :(

It was a rough spot. You destroy your opponent and you are the villain. You lay on him and your boring.

What irked me was DC covered Andersons face to mess with his breathing. It was a 3 round fight and the guy had no camp and 2 days warning and DC is fucking with the guys breathing?

Better to get heat from some "fans" then potentially getting KO'd by one of the best stand up fighters in MMA. He did the right thing. Anderson should have kept the fight standing.
