Except for the Rumble fight, and Rumble was dead by that point. For such an explosive and powerful guy, he sucks at creating space, and throwing bombs from the top position.
Even in the Hendo fight, he should've BOMBED him out from the top position in the 1st or 2nd, and he could barely damage him, besides wearing him out with his weight.
Look at guys like Jones, Weidman, Romero, Jacare, hell, even Rockhold. Soon as they get out down, they're dropping bombs, and really know how to create leverage and posituoning to land bombs.
DC'a style of op control is horrible for GnP, because of the way he balances his weight on you. It's like he's too top heavy to get leverage. He topples over on himself when he's on to of you.
P.S. Silva is extremely hard to hurt from the top position. The guy knows how to hold on, and roll with punches from the bottom.
