Exactly my thoughts. He’s definitely vacating that belt and I don’t see why this fight can’t be for the vacant LHW belt. This is the best LHW fight that they can make at the moment.

They won't do that. Gus doesn't pull any numbers and Volkan sucks. I believe they will wait some time to see what's up with DC at LHW or Jones vs. Gus.

Why would they strip him of the belt? He is an active champ, unlike so many others that they let cling to the belts. DC also stated that it all depends on what happens with Brock and DC's own hand. He mentioned dropping back down to 205 for one more defense then fighting Brock. My guess is the UFC would milk this cow for all it is worth.

According to DC his next fight will be at light heavy. He just said on Fox that he is going to defend the LHW belt before he fights again at heavyweight. Then he will fight Brock Lesnar, who has to wait a few months anyway.

in addition to DC saying he may defend LHW before the Brock fight (which is 6 months away, at best), Dana also said he would allow DC to defend both.

having said that, DC also noted in the post-fight presser that he wants to get paid, and that fighting someone at 205 for 'no money' makes little sense when the Brock fight = massive $$$.

should be interesting to see what he chooses to do...but he has earned the right to decide.
