Hope Diaconu doesn't injure his hand again, but it looks like (according to ESB) that they are going to fight. Nothing is listed on boxrec yet. Supposedly Dawson has been ordered to fight Diaconu in 90 days.
according to fightnews the fight is on, and will take place in Romania, then after that hopefully we get to see a Dawson-Johnson rematch
I don't like that. Why should Dawson have to fight in Romania? He's the champ, doesn't he have leverage because of that to dictate the fight location?
He could always come fight in Montreal. But that's also diaconu's backyard. I haven't really followed this very closely, but hasn't there been some controversy due to the bids put up? The places where Dawson wants to fight are not putting up enough $$$.
I read on ESPN that Gary Shaw got outbid by around half a million. The Romanian promoter's bid was around 1.8 million and Shaw's bid was about 1.3
Thats what happened. And as for this "oooh, poor Dawson. He's the champion, so why should he go overseas to defend?" How do you think Dawson won his title in the first place?
Should be a good fight. Dawson looked beatable last time out, and the only time I saw Diaconu fight, he bombed somebody out. My patriotism has me pullin for Chad.
Yeah same here. That and the fact that all the LHWs at the top are getting really old. Chad still has the potential to inherit the division IMO, he just needs to step up after the tough fight against Glen.
