Tank Abbott came onto the MMA scene at UFC 6 in Caspar,Wyoming in 1995 like a monstrous whirlwind of unmitigated violence not seen in previous UFC's. Here in this video, albeit short, he makes his UFC debut against a very large individual in John Matua. The weigh in's for this match had Matua at a 120 pound advantage Matua weighting in at 400 and Abbott at 280. Tank would go on and advance in the UFC 6 tournament to the finals and lose to Oleg Taktarov where both men had to be assisted out of the octagon from exhaustion. Tank would go on and have many more memorable highlight reel knockouts but would lose many more as the years went on. Tank Abbott was a fan favorite however and was always met with raucous applause. Tank Abbot was a very good wrestler but his matches never lasted long, he holds the MMA record for fighting in 24 straight fights where the ending came in the first round. At the end of his career Tank Abbott would have a losing record of 10-15, however he has remains in MMA history as one of the most feared punchers to ever compete. Note, UFC 6 served as Michael Buffer's first announcing gig in the UFC. It was also the first UFC super-fight champion in Ken Shamrock. UFC 6 had no judges, no rounds but there was a 20 minutes quarterfinal limit, the finals had a 30 minute time limit.
Its fake lol...I am not denying Tank was a strong guy, but this was nowhere near 600 lbs.
Although his form was trash, there are no amateur or pro bodybuilders to ever bench 600.Cheating, it clearly bounced off his massive tits. Not impressed, amateur bodybuilders life more.
True man, do you remember his fight with the bad ass in your avatar at ultimate ultimate final?? that fight was crazy, I couldn't believe how Frye wasn't knocked out cold, I mean Tank was beating the sh*t out of him and Frye's feet were sliding about 3 foot sideways with every punch, damn. And then Tank falls over and Frye chokes him out, that fight was like only 2 minutes but that 2 minutes was Epic.A fucking beast.
The last person you would want to be in a cage with if you didn't know what you were doing...
The dude wasn't taking prisoners.
Yes, we need more Tank around here.
The original Sherbro.

You know what.. I always wondered what the hell happened to Steve Nelmark?. I mean he looked Dead when Tank knocked him out, I never seen a fighter looked so dead before in UFC... then he totally disappeared, never to be seen again, the weirdest thing is they never showed him getting up, leaving the octagon, nothing. Seriously did he die that night or what?!.Gumby Nelmark.
Tank was responsible for some of the earliest WTF moments which still stand the test of time even today when most are desensitized to the brutality of this sport.

Yeah that was crazy that he survived, such a tough guy. I loved that event Ultimate Ultimate 2 .. I used to have it on old VHS tape.. one of the best eventsFrye would mention in a later interview that he remained dazed for about two days after that fight, a lesser man would have croaked.

Don admits he should have lost that fight, he was real tired.True man, do you remember his fight with the bad ass in your avatar at ultimate ultimate final?? that fight was crazy, I couldn't believe how Frye wasn't knocked out cold, I mean Tank was beating the sh*t out of him and Frye's feet were sliding about 3 foot sideways with every punch, damn. Amazing, his chin was granite and he was a really tough guy too. I loved that event, one of the best events by UFC.. I used to love how everything flowed, no ads and long breaks, everything was back to back, so easy to watch unlike nowDon admits he should have lost that fight, he was real tired.
Tank has crushing power, just crushing power. But Don's chin was constructed of otherworldly materials.
