David Fincher to Direct Brad Pitt in ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ Netflix Follow-Up From a Tarantino Script

Never watched True Romance?

You'd have to be an absolute idiot not be able to make a good movie out of a Tarantino script, thats not the question. The question is, why would you want to see anyone direct his work.

A stand alone piece like From Dusk Till Dawn, maybe. But to see someone else direct an extension of an already existing story with an established world and style? Nah.

Who wants half his vision?

No problem here.

Tarantino’s scripts have done just fine in the hands of others.

True Romance, From Dusk till Dawn, and despite him not liking it, Natural Born Killers.

I have no reason to think this wouldn’t be good with a capable director which Fincher is.

There’s not much secret sauce. If you stick to the script chances are you have a good movie(or series)

It’s the Coen Brothers whose scripts fall flat in the hands of other directors. Because they have subtle beats to their direction that aren’t done when Spielberg, Clooney, or Jolie direct their scripts. So the timing of the dialogue or action just never hits the right note even though you recognize it as one of their signatures.

A lot of people don’t know it, but ‘Bad Santa’ is probably their only good non directed Coen project and they didn’t even take credit for it.

No he's not...Has a couple really good films though.
He is. Just on a technical level alone, he's one of the best in the game. Tarantino is phenomenal at directing Tarantino films. He's got his own voice and no one else can duplicate it, so he's a singular experience that can't be matched. He's unique, which has both good and bad things. Tarantino is never gonna do something like Benjamin Button or Fight Club, or even Seven. He's great at what he does but he's also somewhat limited to his own specific wheelhouse.

QT would do better with Fight Club than Fincher would with Kill Bill.

And like you mentioned yourself...Tarantino is great at directing his own stuff, even though Fincher and a hundred other directors could make a good movie out of one his scripts, I just don't want to see it.
I think this is an April Fools thing…

I'm hoping so.

I’m fairly certain it’s just a prank.

Speaking of Fight Club, I just rewatched it the other night(it’s been something like 15 years since I last saw it) and it holds up really well. Most remember Brad Pitt fondly and for good reason, but Edward Norton’s acting, I feel, doesn’t get enough credit.

Yeah seems like a prank, such an odd and out of character move for Tarantino.

As for Fincher, its The Social Network and Gone Girl that stand out for me.

Didn't I read Tarantino doesn't want to do movies anymore?
I'd that some rather than none. Hollywood was fucking epic and won Brad a much long deserved Oscar so I'm in regardless.

Edward Norton is almost never in bad movies. He's one of the best actors out there

I don't know. He really only did one movie that was an adaptation, and most think it's pretty darn good. There's no reason to believe he couldn't be just a director on some studio project, and make it great. He's not exactly weak on the fundamentals that could be applied to someone else's work.

He's also really quite funny and seems like a nice bloke. He was on Kimmell recently and came off really well. I don't know if I'd seen him do an interview before.

I think he's doing one more movie and then he's done.
