Right out of the bag I could tell that this gi was something unique. This is the first unbleached gi that I've ever owned and also the first that is not made out of traditional materials (cotton). The impression that I got when picking it up and examining the gi was that of a heavy linen shirt and pants; the pants especially look and feel like linen. The weave of the kimono and pant both highlight the natural fiber characteristics of hemp.

You wore it for 3 days without washing it, huh? I'm all for science, but damn...that's a little dirty.
 
I let everyone know ahead of time and no one had an issue with it.

I was thinking the same thing after the third day. It had no bad odor but at that point I just couldn't not wash it.
 
i'm so happy to see a review for the 03 version finally. the 02 is well reviewed but i worked very hard to make the 03 so much better. glad you like the gi and thank for the review :)

i love the 3 day experiment you did. since the hemp sounds like it performed as it should it's not as gross as it sounds. don't forget guys hemp is naturally anti-microbial so nothing funky can grow on it, nice to see it actually working though :)
 
Is the 03 model still in stock? I purchased the 02 in white and black but honestly did not wear them. I was not satisfied with the fit but the build quality was very impressive. I am very interested in the 03 as the cut looks great and I'm sure the quality is there.
 
Nice review!! I really like my blue one also, very comfy for sure, I'd def wear it more if not for the wide sleeve width, just can't get over it!!

Judging from your one pic, your sleeve width appears a lot more "tailored" than mine??
 
If you have an older one I'd suggest checking it with a tape measure and then comparing that to the measurements in the review. That should give you an idea. The one in the review is an A3

Yea mine is an A3 also, it's the newest model in the blue color. It's been washed about 5x and I just measured the sleeve cuffs and they were a tad over 7inches

Mine was just over 6.5" for the sleeve cuffs. Not sure why there's a difference

It's better than the 1st generation release... But still annoying to me at least since its a personal preference
 
I saw the midnight blue at the open and it looked super sharp. The unbleached looks great too. Man I would love to try one of these gis.

Best place to get a deal on it is Datsusara's Facebook page. Chris puts up sales constantly usually 10% or more off and includes shipping. I saw someone say that they got one for <$50 once during a flashsale.
 
Datsusara is an amazing brand. Still uber-happy with my light battlepack and Chris is an awesome guy who really cares about his product and each customer he has.
