I've been dating my girlfriend for almost 3 years. When I first started dating her it was pretty clear that she took her job seriously. I'd categorize her as someone who is very business minded and extremely ambitious. Thing is earlier in the relationship her schedule was a lot more flexible than it is now. We would take vacations, go out on dinners, spend time with friends, etc. But as the responsibilities of her job have increased, it seems the only thing she cares about is her job. She's even made comments such as she doesn't really see the value of just hanging out with friends unless there is some business aspect associated with it. At first, I guess I wasn't as concerned, because I thought she was just really driven, but now I realize business is a huge percentage of all she cares about. I can't even remember the last time she has gone out with friends for a drink or dinner. Yet when she's with me and I take her out to a social gathering, she's very outgoing and confident.

I guess my concern is I see this situation as a slippery slope. As she moves up in her career, I'd expect the demands to get worse and worse. But I can't figure out whether it's better to be in a situation like this where she is so driven and makes good money or ultimately if this is going to be too much because there is no balance.

Anyone else have experience dating a work alcoholic?

Workaholic or Work Alcoholic

There's a pretty big difference :)

I kept reading and reading waiting for the part where she turned into an alcoholic lol
