A featherweight tilt has been added to UFC’s return to Chicago as Godofredo Pepey vs. Darren Elkins has been added to UFC on FOX 20. The bout was orignally announced by Globo.

UFC on Fox 20 will be held on July 23, 2016 at United Center in Chicago, Illinois.

Pepey (12-3 MMA) is currently riding an impressive three fight winning streak in one of the UFC’s deepest divisions. A highlight reel flying knee KO at UFC Fight Night 38 over Noad Lahat was followed up by a submission win over Dashon Johnson at UFC Fight Night 81. His most recent win came against Team Alpha Male’s Andre Fili at UFC Fight Night 62.

Elkins (20-5 MMA) is riding a two fight winning streak of his own. A unanimous decison win over Robert Whiteford in Dublin at UFC Fight Night 76 was followed up most recently by another unanimous decision win over Chas Skelly at UFC 196 in Las Vegas.

Not a bad fight, Pepey has some slick BJJ and is on a nice little streak, I think getting a sub win over Elkins is very likely, but Elkins is a very suffocating wrestler. It's going to be interesting to see how this one plays out. Winner should get someone else in the top 15. What do you guys think?

I'm vaguely annoyed by this fight, and I'm not exactly a fan of either.

"We've got an exciting finisher here, who's picked up some entertaining finishes of late. Who should we give him next?"

"Probably the biggest dryout wrestler in the division?"

"Done."

Elkins, UD. As usual.

Alpha Male mohawk Elkins is a whole new fighter, dude.

Elkins by embracing the grind. He will get put into a dangerous position or two, but nothing he won't be able to handle.

Sure he is. Wrestler with okay hands, who wins decisions.

Mohawk is the only difference and it's a painfully awkward Mohawk. It's basically your school-friend who was always straight-laced and played rugby all his life, giving himself an edgy haircut coz your band is playing locally and he doesn't wanna show up in his checked shirt and dress shoes and look out of place.

Elkins via being one of the grittiest fighters in the world.

Love this fight. Pepey has an awesome bottom game, so Elkins probably won't be able to do his normal LnP game. Can see it being a poor quality striking fight. Split Decision either way.

Elkins should win pretty easily, I'm assuming at least a UD

Leatherface by suffocation

That guy just doesn't stop coming for that cage hump, draining that wad

We need to remember what Pepey did to Fili when he had his back against the Cage.

Pepey developed all the areas of his game since his last defeat. He even went to see a psychologist to help him to get his mind ready for fighting.

He improved his Jiu Jitsu (what was already good enough to put him on TUF Finals) , being praised by Rafael Dos Anjos and Serginho Moraes.

He is not that Wild Brawler anymore, His Muay Thai based striking is a way more technical than it was when he left the house. (not saying he's a fucking brilliant striker now, but the improvement is visible)

He was recently on King's where he worked a lot on his wrestling.

I know Darren had some sucess being a "suffocating wrestler", but since Pepey had a good ground game off his back (yes, I've watched both Siciliaa and Sertanejo [this one in loco] fights) and didn't have to be on the ground to set some submissions, "embracing the grind" not necessarily will guarantee a victory for Elkins.

Darren only TKO's on UFC are due to injury and a controversial stoppage, I don't see him getting this fight finished by strikes (standing or gnp).

I know Elkins can deciosionize Pepey like he did to some others, but even if it happens, it will not be as easy as many say.

I'm definitely biased, but I'm sincerely expecting Pepey to finish Elkins (either by sub or [t]ko).

Hope Elkins get's knee'd in the face and has lay and pray dreams
