Movies DARK PHOENIX v.2 (Dragonlord's Review)

If you have seen DARK PHOENIX, how would you ratei?

WAsn't this supposed to be 2 movies that got cut down to 1 and that basically screwed the storytelling?

I thought it was okay but the Dark Phoenix storyline is one of my favorites from the comics and I hate Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique (actually I hate the overuse of Mystique in the X-films) so they were never going to satisfy me with such a huge departure from the core storyline.
 
Just saw it last night. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Screw the haters.

The redlettermedia guys got it pretty spot on when they said J-Law seemed to be checked out for this one and just fulfilling her contractual obligations.
 
Apparently the whole final battle was a reshoot so Quicksilver must have been unavailable as he just disappears halfway through the movie.

They show him in a stretcher after one of the battlew so I guess he was in sickbay for the finale.
 
Is it really that bad? Saw the trailer while watching John Wick 3 and it looks fine. Out of all the marvel crap I've been an x-men fan since the early 90s and yeah not all the movies are great but this one looks good. Then again trailers are good at tricking you. They really need to keep politics out though, fuck that shit.

It’s garbage, for reference I loved first class and dofp disliked apocalypse.

Damn... Apocalypse I was so hyped for and that should have been great but yeah, total let down. Good example there of the trailer making it look badass and in reality just being ass.

I think after dofp everyone was excited for apocalypse, I honestly don’t believe the bar was set too high rather that it was a shit film regardless.

Which is a shame because the film was a new beginning without Jackman

I haven't seen it but the story is opaque to the general public. People forget the infinity gauntlet was slowly introduced over 10+ years. If it was dropped day one, people would be like what is this stupid shit. The worst part about the X-Men is that there isn't a world aside from the X-Men. Logan was as close as to it has gotten. No magneto movie. No Xavier movie. No beast movie. No gambit movie. The worst part about X-Men is how small the world is. It had is like instead of Star Wars revisiting the death star over and over, it is the same group of shallowly explored characters on some battle against the violent Magneto super club and a bunch of heavy handed parallels to racism and homophobia.

Deadpool movies are in the same universe, but don't really contribute to the story lines of the X-Men movies.

Deadpool even in the comics other than Logan's origin stories and time in the Weapon X program is always off on his own not real connected either isn't he?

I get that the whole movie wasn't woke, but that retarded "X-women" scene with J-Law shouldn't have been filmed, ever. The Mystique character would never give a shit about gender, she physically swaps between them at will. She's always been about her Mutant identity, not her female identity.
 
Seems like it wasn't mentioned but it might be interesting for some people, it's news about X-Men films series.
So, Fox thought about doing Fantastic Four vs. X-Men film and there is like two scripts, I saw some details of one of thse scripts posted on IGN website. Also, there were plans for solo movies of Beast and Omega Red.
